Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE have finally received the long-awaited update to One UI 8 with Android 16. The South Korean manufacturer thus continues to gradually deploy the latest version of its system on older models, with this being the last major system update for the Galaxy S21 FE within its four-year support period. The phone, which was officially sold in the Czech Republic, is thus receiving its fourth major One UI version since its launch. SamMobile reported on this.

Last Major Update

Samsung began distributing Android 16 with the One UI 8.0 overlay for the Galaxy S21 FE first in Vietnam and Thailand. The update carries the firmware designation G990EXXUIHYJ2 and is over 2 GB in size, so it is advisable to download it via a Wi-Fi connection. The package also includes security patches from September 2025, which enhance the phone’s security.

For users in the Czech Republic and other European countries, the update should arrive in the coming weeks. Samsung typically expands availability gradually by region, with Europe usually being among the first areas after Asian markets. You can manually check for the update in Settings.

After this update, the Galaxy S21 FE will continue to receive only security patches, the frequency of which will gradually decrease from the current quarterly to semi-annual. Samsung is thus fulfilling its promise of four years of major updates for its Galaxy S series flagship models.

What One UI 8 Brings

The new One UI 8 version brings a redesigned app interface for Samsung Internet, Quick Share, and Weather. Users can look forward to expanded capabilities for the Modes and Routines app with new actions and conditions for automation. Samsung has also improved Quick Panel customization and added more lock screen personalization options.

Other new features include improved notification management, system performance optimization, and new multitasking functions. Samsung has also integrated the latest security features from Android 16, including enhanced privacy protection and expanded app permissions.

Do you own a Galaxy S21 FE and are you looking forward to the last major update?
