South Korean giant Samsung surprised fans of its more affordable flagships by announcing that the Galaxy S25 FE model will arrive on the market significantly earlier than originally expected. While last year’s Galaxy S24 FE was introduced in October, this year’s successor, according to the company’s official confirmation, will be released earlier – very likely already in August or early September. The reason for this move is an effort to maintain sales momentum and free up space for other interesting products planned for the second half of 2025.

Maintaining Sales Momentum as a Priority

Daniel Araújo, Vice President of Samsung Mobile Experience, directly commented on the shift in the launch date, emphasizing: “Our priority is to maintain sales momentum through seasonal promotions and an earlier launch of the Galaxy S25 FE model.”

With this step, Samsung is responding to the increasingly competitive smartphone market while also creating space for other anticipated products, including the first “tri-fold” phone (a foldable with three sections), the XR headset known as Project Moohan, new Galaxy A series models, and the previously confirmed new generation of Galaxy Tab S11 tablets.

Design Almost Unchanged, but with Thinner Bezels

According to previously leaked renders by renowned leaker OnLeaks, the Galaxy S25 FE will remain very similar in visual terms to its predecessor. The phone will retain a metal construction, flat bezels, and a display with a punch-hole selfie camera. A welcome change will be more compact dimensions of 161.4 x 76.6 x 7.4 mm, making the new model shorter and thinner than the Galaxy S24 FE with parameters of 162 x 77.3 x 8 mm. Samsung will thus be able to retain the 6.7″ Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate while simultaneously reducing the device’s size thanks to narrower bezels around the screen.

Improved Brightness and Front Camera

There is also speculation about a significant increase in the display’s maximum brightness up to 2,600 nits, which would greatly improve readability in direct sunlight. In the area of photography, Samsung is reportedly preparing for an upgrade of the front camera, this time it should use a 12Mpx image sensor. The rear camera setup should include a 50Mpx main sensor with optical stabilization, an 8Mpx telephoto lens with 3x zoom, and a 12Mpx ultrawide lens.

Processor and Software Still Unclear

It is not yet entirely clear what chipset will power the phone. In the past, there has been speculation about the presence of an Exynos 2400 processor or alternatively a MediaTek Dimensity 9400, with the final decision potentially depending on the sales region. In any case, the phone should offer 12 GB of RAM and storage variants of 256 GB and 512 GB. Interestingly, Samsung is reportedly already testing firmware with One UI 8 based on Android 16, suggesting that the Galaxy S25 FE could be one of the first phones with the latest Android version immediately upon launch.

Seven Years of Updates

In connection with the Galaxy S25 FE, Samsung is expected to provide seven years of software updates, which aligns with the company’s current policy for flagship models. Combined with the anticipated powerful hardware and improved display, the Galaxy S25 FE will once again target the category of phones that offer premium features at a more affordable price than full-fledged flagships.

If the new model doesn’t appeal to you or you don’t want to wait until August, you can already purchase one of the models from the flagship Galaxy S25 series.

What do you think of Samsung’s strategy to launch the Galaxy S25 FE model earlier?
