This type of display differs from classic panels in that it lacks a rigid substrate layer; it is definitely not intended for foldable devices. This type of display has been used for some time now practically exclusively by flagship smartphones, as it is understandably more demanding to manufacture and therefore more expensive than a classic panel. If you’re wondering what advantage this technology offers users, the answer is reduced thickness and the possibility of having narrower bezels around the display. According to rumors, the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE is said to have a thickness of only 7.4 mm compared to 8 mm for its predecessor, and the bezels around the display should also improve.
