Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 might arrive with an almost invisible crease. A leaked video suggests this

  • A leaked video allegedly shows a pre-production Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra with an almost invisible crease on the inner display
  • The improved impression is said to be due to a redesigned, shallower hinge with more decisive folding
  • We also recall previously leaked European prices – the basic Fold8 is expected to start around 48 thousand CZK

Samsung’s foldable phones have always been accompanied by a visible crease in the middle of the display. However, according to a fresh leak, this year’s Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra (despite the confusing name, it will be the successor to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold7) could be the first where you will barely notice it during normal use.

What does the leaked video show?

The footage appeared on the Chinese network Weibo under the account Momentary Digital and is said to capture a pre-production unit – most likely the Ultra version. The phone folds and unfolds several times in front of the camera, and the crease is only visible at an extreme angle under harsh light. Instead of a deep “canyon” across the entire panel, as you know from previous Folds, at most a slight indentation remains.

According to the leak, this is thanks to a redesigned, shallower hinge. The mechanism is said to fold “more decisively” – the phone thus doesn’t hold as many intermediate positions as before, but the inner panel appears flatter. Servers that analyzed the video claim that the Fold8 series is reaching the top of the industry in crease suppression, comparable to the Oppo Find N6.

How much will the Galaxy Z Fold8 cost?

Even if the crease is finally perfected, the price might spoil the joy. We wrote about the European prices based on a leak earlier, and it’s not good news. According to them, the basic Galaxy Z Fold8 is expected to start at around 48 thousand CZK (1,999 euros), the Ultra variant shown in the photos even higher, roughly from 53 thousand (2,199 euros). For more spacious storage, you will pay extra due to rising memory prices, according to the leak.

Only the official premiere will make things clear. Samsung is expected to unveil both foldables at the Unpacked event on July 22, where the introduction of new watches is also anticipated. Until then, caution is advised – moreover, it cannot be ruled out that the leak is a carefully selected shot.

Do you believe Samsung will finally hide the crease on the display?
