Samsung has its summer Galaxy Unpacked scheduled for July 22, and given the number of expected products, it should be an exciting event. However, even before the manufacturer officially confirmed anything, European prices for the new foldables and smartwatches leaked to the public – and they bring one unpleasant piece of news: almost the entire lineup will get more expensive this year.

The complete European price list was published by the German server WinFuture, whose editor Roland Quandt is among the most reliable sources for price leaks. According to his information, price increases will affect practically everything, with versions offering more storage seeing the biggest hikes. We will pay more for large foldables, for the “B-series” Flip, and for both models of smartwatches.

Galaxy Z Fold8 will be a truly expensive affair

Let’s start with the most expensive. According to the leak, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the direct successor to last year’s Fold7 – that is, the foldable you’ve known for many years – and its price will climb to 2,199 euros for the base model with 256 GB, which is approximately 53 thousand Czech crowns (CZK) in conversion. That’s one hundred euros more than its predecessor. However, the difference grows with increasing capacity: for the 512 GB version, you’ll pay an additional 180 euros, and the terabyte model will surpass last year’s generation by a full 280 euros.

The leaked European price list for foldables is as follows.

  • Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: approximately 53 thousand Czech crowns (CZK) (2,199 euros) for 256 GB, over 58 thousand Czech crowns (CZK) (2,399 euros) for 512 GB, and approximately 68 thousand Czech crowns (CZK) (2,799 euros) for 1 TB
  • Galaxy Z Fold8: from approximately 48 thousand Czech crowns (CZK) (1,999 euros) for 256 GB up to almost 63 thousand Czech crowns (CZK) (2,599 euros) for 1 TB
  • Galaxy Z Flip8: approximately 31 thousand Czech crowns (CZK) (1,299 euros) for 256 GB and around 36 thousand Czech crowns (CZK) (1,499 euros) for 512 GB

A more observant eye will notice that there are two large foldables in the lineup. Alongside the Ultra model, there is also the “regular” Galaxy Z Fold8, which is expected to be an entirely new, wider phone – its outer display should, according to leaks, feel more like a regular mobile phone. We discussed that this is a different device earlier, when the manufacturer surprisingly shuffled the names of the entire series.

Even the Galaxy Z Flip8 remains in the role of the more affordable “B-series” model, but its price is moving at the same pace as its larger sibling – you’ll pay an extra one hundred euros for the base version and a full 180 euros for the one with more storage.

You’ll also pay more for Galaxy Watch smartwatches

Price increases will not spare wrists either. The Galaxy Watch 9 will get approximately 30 euros more expensive across variants, while the more durable Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will demand an additional 50 euros compared to its predecessor. Furthermore, according to the leak, the Ultra 2 will arrive exclusively in an LTE version; do not expect a cheaper Bluetooth-only variant for it.

The leaked watch prices are as follows.

  • Galaxy Watch 9 (40 mm): approximately 9,900 Czech crowns (CZK) (409 euros) with Bluetooth, around 11,100 Czech crowns (CZK) (459 euros) with LTE
  • Galaxy Watch 9 (44 mm): approximately 10,600 Czech crowns (CZK) (439 euros) with Bluetooth, around 11,800 Czech crowns (CZK) (489 euros) with LTE
  • Galaxy Watch Ultra 2: approximately 18 thousand Czech crowns (CZK) (749 euros), and only in the LTE version

What do you get for the extra cost? According to previous leaks, both generations of watches will feature significantly larger batteries and a new Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, which should boost battery life and smoothness. The Watch Ultra 2 is also expected to offer a redesigned, inscribed bezel, which may even be rotatable. While there were earlier speculations that this year’s Ultra might also appear in a more economical form, Quandt does not mention it.

Why is everything getting more expensive?

According to leaks, the reason is prosaic. The price increase is due to rising component costs, especially for memory and storage – and that’s precisely why the highest-capacity versions are increasing the most, as a terabyte of memory costs the manufacturer significantly more than before. Samsung is merely following a trend that most manufacturers have been complaining about in recent months.

The amounts listed are conversions from euros; official Czech prices are not yet known – the manufacturer will announce them during the event itself.

How much would you still be willing to pay for a new Samsung foldable?
