After months of testing on the flagship Galaxy S25 series, Samsung is finally opening the One UI 8.5 beta program to owners of older devices as well. The new version of the overlay, which is pre-installed on the recently launched Galaxy S26 series, will gradually make its way to those who purchased a Galaxy S24 or the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 foldables.

Which devices have access to the beta version?

Samsung currently offers One UI 8.5 beta for the following models:

  • Galaxy S24
  • Galaxy S24+,
  • Galaxy S24 Ultra
  • Galaxy S24 FE
  • Galaxy S25 FE
  • Galaxy Z Fold 6
  • Galaxy Z Flip 6
  • Galaxy Tab S11
  • Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra

Last year’s flagship Galaxy S25 models already have the eighth beta version available, while the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 foldables have the second.

Registration for the beta program takes place via the Samsung Members app, where a corresponding banner will appear after logging in. The beta is expected to arrive on more devices in April.

What’s new in One UI 8.5?

The overlay brings a number of interesting improvements. The Bixby assistant now better understands natural language and can find desired settings even if you don’t use the exact function name. The conversation history directly in the app is also practical.

Among the biggest new features is Storage Share, which allows access to files from other Samsung devices directly in the My Files app. Quick Share, in turn, recognizes people in photos and suggests sharing them directly with them.

Samsung has also improved anti-theft protection – the phone now automatically locks after repeated unsuccessful attempts to unlock it. Of interest is partial screen recording, where you select only a specific part of the display, or direct voicemail, which saves messages directly to the phone.

Other new features worth mentioning include an improved weather widget with a precipitation graph, a pollen index for allergy sufferers, and automatic adjustment of the lock screen layout for photos with people and pets.

Are you looking forward to One UI 8.5?
