Samsung is already testing One UI 9. It is likely also working on a mysterious foldable phone

At a time when the internet is filled with leaks about the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, with its planned introduction on February 25, the first indications of what Samsung is working on next are emerging. Test builds of One UI 9 for this year’s foldable phones have been spotted on the Korean giant’s servers.

Fold 8 and Flip 8 are already running on test firmware

The information was highlighted by well-known leaker Tarun Vats on the social network X. According to his findings, Samsung is testing One UI 9 on Galaxy Z Fold 8 (SM-F976U) models with firmware F976USQU0AZB1 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 (SM-F776U) with firmware F776USQU0AZB1. The development of the new overlay is thus running concurrently with the completion of One UI 8.5, which the Galaxy S26 series will receive.

Android 17 as the foundation

One UI 9 will be built on Android 17, whose first beta was originally supposed to be released this week. However, Google postponed it without giving a reason. The stable version should arrive in June.

Furthermore, the server SamMobile discovered test firmware for a hitherto unknown model SM-F971U. This is expected to be a wider variant of the Galaxy Z Fold, which will likely lead to the removal of the Z Flip FE model from the lineup, and it is reportedly intended to compete with the upcoming foldable iPhone.
