Samsung is already working on Galaxy Buds4. A mention of them appeared in One UI 8.5

From the leaked version of the One UI 8.5 overlay, it appears that the South Korean giant is intensively working on Galaxy Buds4 and Galaxy Buds4 Pro headphones. Only recently did the South Korean giant expand the current Galaxy Buds3 family with an FE version, which appears to be a more affordable alternative to the two existing models. Whether we will see a fan edition within the “fours” is not yet known.

First concrete details about the new generation

Information about the upcoming headphones comes from an analysis of the leaked code of One UI 8.5, which Samsung is currently developing (reported by Android Authority). In the code, in addition to the names themselves, model numbers SM-R540 for Galaxy Buds4 and SM-R640 for the Pro variant also appeared. The numbering logically follows the current generation – Galaxy Buds3 bear the designation SM-R530 and Buds3 Pro then SM-R630.

More than a year has passed since the introduction of the third generation of Galaxy Buds headphones, so the timing for the arrival of successors is slowly approaching. Samsung usually introduces new headphones together with flagship phones, which could mean an unveiling during the first Galaxy Unpacked event in 2026.

Possible expansion with an FE model

An interesting question remains whether Samsung will repeat this year’s strategy and, in addition to two premium models, later introduce a more affordable Galaxy Buds4 FE variant. The Galaxy Buds3 FE model arrived several months after the main pair and offered basic features at a significantly lower price. However, only mentions of the Buds4 and Buds4 Pro models have appeared in the leaked One UI 8.5 code so far.
