Not even a week has passed since the release of the stable version of One UI 8 for the Galaxy S25 series, and Samsung is already testing another version. An internal build of One UI 8.5 for Galaxy S25 Ultra with the designation S938BXXU5CYIA has appeared on the company’s servers.

Why Samsung is rushing with One UI 8.5

At first glance, it seems like Samsung is falling behind. It released One UI 8, which has not yet reached all regions, and is already working on version 8.5. However, the reality is more prosaic – it’s a normal part of the development cycle.

Samsung is simultaneously developing One UI 8.5 for the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. And since the S25 and S26 will share similar software, it makes sense to test the intermediate version on current flagships.

What will One UI 8.5 bring?

Specific new features are not yet known, but we can estimate based on previous intermediate versions. One UI 6.5, for example, brought improved Galaxy AI features, new widgets, and optimizations for foldable phones. I expect One UI 8.5 to be similarly focused on refining AI features and bug fixes.

Given that One UI 8 brought a massive redesign with the Now Bar and revamped notifications, version 8.5 will likely focus on fine-tuning these new features based on user feedback.

What do you expect from One UI 8.5?
