South Korean tech giant Samsung is reportedly finally preparing to launch its long-awaited XR headset. According to a fresh report from the Korean website ChosunBiz, we could see the official unveiling as early as October 22, 2025. The device, codenamed Project Moohan, would thus finally reach customers’ hands almost a year after its first public demonstration.

Unveiling and Pre-orders This Month

Information brought by the South Korean website ChosunBiz indicates that Samsung will allow pre-orders for its XR headset from October 15 to 21, a week before its official market launch. The report also suggests that the final product will bear the name Moohan, which comes from the Korean Muhan (무한) and means infinity. This naming symbolically refers to the unlimited possibilities of extended reality.

This is the first Android XR headset developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm. The device is expected to compete with Apple Vision Pro, but at a significantly lower price. While the Apple Vision Pro costs 3,500 dollars (approximately 72,300 CZK), the Samsung Moohan, according to current information, could start at a price of around 1,800 dollars (approximately 37,200 CZK).

What We Already Know About Hardware and Software

Samsung publicly showcased the headset at the beginning of 2025 during the Galaxy S25 series unveiling. At that time, it was only a static display in a showcase, but it sent a clear signal that the company is serious about extended reality. The device’s design resembles Apple’s competing Vision Pro, including a similar front cover solution.

Under the hood, it features a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor with a six-core CPU and a clock speed of up to 2.4 GHz. Samsung has also added 16 GB of RAM, Wi-Fi 7 support, and Bluetooth 5.3. The display uses two high-resolution OLED panels, though their exact specifications have not yet been revealed by the manufacturer.

Other notable features include passthrough cameras for environmental sensing, designed to transmit images with minimal latency, allowing you to move safely in space. Samsung handles control using hand gestures and eye-tracking, similar to the competing Vision Pro.

Android XR and Artificial Intelligence

Project Moohan runs on Android XR, a special version of Google’s operating system designed for headsets and smart glasses. The system allows applications to be displayed as large windows before the user’s eyes and offers spatial computing for interacting with virtual objects.

The software also includes the AI assistant Gemini integrated directly into the system. It will help with control, analyze the surroundings, and offer contextual information. Access to all compatible applications from Google Play that developers allow for the XR environment is a given.

Originally, Samsung expected the first units to go to developers, and regular customers would wait until at least the end of 2025. Now, it seems the final product will arrive sooner than anticipated. Whether it will be available globally or only in selected markets is not yet clear.

What do you expect from Project Moohan?
