Gaming monitors with OLED technology have seen a significant price drop in recent months, which is great news for anyone who has been hesitant to invest in a top-tier display. Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 G81SF is among the most interesting models on the market – it combines a premium QD-OLED panel with parameters that will be appreciated by both gamers and content creators. And right now, you can get it for the excellent price of 23,990 CZK with code ALZADNY20.

Price dropped by almost 40 percent

When Samsung launched the 32″ version of the Odyssey OLED G8 G81SF on the Czech market in April last year, it was priced at 39,490 CZK. Over time, the price decreased – since December, it has been at 29,990 CZK. Now it is available on Alza for 23,990 CZK when using the discount code ALZADNY20.

For less than 24 thousand CZK, you get a monitor that would have cost 15 thousand more just a year ago. This is a discount that makes sense even for those who previously considered OLED monitors an unnecessary luxury.

QD-OLED with parameters for demanding gamers

The Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 G81SF features a 32″ QD-OLED panel with a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels. Quantum Dot technology combined with OLED ensures accurate color reproduction – the monitor covers 99% of the DCI-P3 color space and can display up to a billion color shades. A static contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 means truly deep blacks that LCD panels cannot offer.

For gamers, the 240Hz refresh rate combined with a 0.03ms response time (GtG) is crucial. The monitor supports both AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync, so you don’t have to worry about screen tearing regardless of which graphics card you use. The VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 400 certification then guarantees high-quality HDR display with truly dark shadows.

Samsung addresses the burn-in issue

The biggest concern with OLED displays is the risk of burn-in of static elements. Samsung has therefore implemented the OLED Safeguard+ system, which includes several protective features. The monitor uses a dynamic cooling system with a pulsating heat pipe, which, according to the manufacturer, dissipates heat five times faster than a conventional graphite layer. It also includes automatic detection of logos and control panels with reduced brightness, a screen saver that activates after 10 minutes of inactivity, and a thermal modulation system.

According to Samsung, Glare Free technology is designed to provide 54% lower reflectivity than conventional anti-reflective films. In practice, this means less interference from ambient lighting, whether you’re playing during the day or at night.

Design and connectivity

The monitor features a flat panel in a slim metal design that looks elegant and is suitable for a work environment. The ergonomic stand allows for height, tilt, and swivel adjustment, including pivot for vertical orientation. VESA mount compatibility (100 × 100 mm) is also a given.

As for ports, you’ll find 2× HDMI 2.1, 1× DisplayPort 1.4, 2× USB-A 3.2, and a headphone output. The absence of DisplayPort 2.1 might be a disappointment for some users – to transmit 4K at 240 Hz, DSC compression must be used, which can cause minor issues when switching to fullscreen.

Who is the monitor suitable for?

The Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 G81SF is an ideal choice for gamers who want top-tier image quality and don’t mind investing a higher amount in a monitor. The combination of 4K resolution, high refresh rate, and OLED technology offers an experience that conventional LCD panels cannot provide. It will also be appreciated by content creators and graphic designers due to its accurate color reproduction.

Conversely, if you primarily play competitive titles and prefer the highest possible refresh rate over resolution, a Full HD monitor with 360 Hz might suit you better. And if you have a limited budget, there are still quality 27″ QHD monitors available for half the price.

Are you considering switching to an OLED monitor?
