Owners of older vehicles without modern infotainment don’t necessarily have to invest in expensive installation of a new car radio. There are add-on displays on the market that simply attach to the windshield or dashboard and offer similar features for a fraction of the price. Wireless phone connectivity

The main draw of the SENCOR SCT M1090DBWT display is its wireless support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. After the initial pairing, the device automatically connects to your phone as soon as you get into the car. On the 10.26″ IPS screen with a resolution of 1024 × 600 pixels, you can then conveniently control navigation, play music, or answer calls via voice commands.

The display also supports mirroring the entire phone screen, so you can use applications that Android Auto or CarPlay do not natively support. Audio is transmitted to the car’s speakers wirelessly via an FM transmitter, or a 3.5mm AUX output can be used. Compatibility includes phones with Android 10 and newer or iPhones with iOS 8 and higher.

Two cameras in one package

SENCOR has integrated a front Full HD camera with 1080p resolution and a 120° field of view into its display, which serves as a dash cam for recording drives. Recordings are saved to a microSD card up to 256 GB in a loop, so older recordings are automatically overwritten.

The package also includes a rear reversing camera, also with 1080p resolution. It features automatic detection of reverse gear engagement, so the image from it appears immediately as soon as you start reversing. Connection is provided by a 2.5mm jack cable.

Installation and connectivity

The display weighs 425 grams and its dimensions are 240 × 115 × 41 mm. The package includes a 360° suction cup mount for the windshield and also two dashboard mounts (soft and hard). Power is provided by a USB-C connector with 12–24 V support, and the adapter is included.

Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 5 GHz for stable wireless connection and Bluetooth 5.0 for hands-free calls with a built-in microphone. The device is powered by an Allwinner V533 processor with 2 GB of DDR3 RAM.

Others mention that the adhesive mounts don’t hold very well and the suction cup mount can shake slightly during driving. The sound quality via AUX may also not suit everyone.
