Sixty-five inches with Mini LED backlighting from Samsung for less than twelve thousand – this price tag is already worth noting. However, the TV didn’t reach this price overnight. At launch, it cost 18,990 CZK, in August it dropped to 15,190 CZK, and now it has gone even lower. You can now buy the Samsung UE65M70H with code 2026ALZAEXTRA30 on Alza for 11,990 CZK, which is 7,000 CZK cheaper than when it first came to market.

Seven Thousand Down in a Few Months

The price development of the UE65M70H is a good example of why it rarely pays off to buy new TVs right at their launch. From 18,990 CZK, it dropped to 15,190 CZK in August and now, with the code, to 11,990 CZK. In total, that’s 7,000 CZK, more than a third of the original price, and for a model designated as a 2026 model year. Anyone who bought it right after launch is probably biting their lip a bit now.

It should be honestly added that the TV has already been at 11,990 CZK in the last month, Alza itself also states the same minimum price before the promotion. So it’s not a flash sale for a few hours, but rather a new price level. Samsung has also set it similarly on its e-shop, where the TV is currently out of stock, while Alza reports more than five units.

To give you an idea of how low that is: the 65″ Crystal UHD U8000H, a regular LED TV without Mini LED backlighting, costs 12,990 CZK on Samsung’s e-shop. For Mini LED, you will pay a thousand less than for a basic LED with the same diagonal. Samsung is similarly aggressively discounting smaller models; the 50″ UE50M72H recently dropped below ten thousand.

Mini LED No Longer Belongs Only to More Expensive Neo QLEDs

The main difference compared to a regular LED TV is in the backlighting. Mini LED uses smaller diodes, more of which can fit behind the panel, allowing the TV to more precisely control where the image lights up and where it remains dark. In practice, this should mean deeper blacks and less gray haze in night scenes, which will be especially appreciated by those who watch movies in the evening with the lights off. Alza does not specify the number of dimming zones, and for a cheaper series, I wouldn’t expect the contrast offered by more expensive Neo QLED models.

The Mini LED 4K processor handles the image in 4K (3840 × 2160 pixels) resolution. Samsung primarily highlights its upscaling of older shows and movies to near 4K levels, which is useful on 65 inches because less sharp content is more noticeable on a large screen. In addition, the manufacturer adds Pure Spectrum Color technology for more natural colors and Mini LED HDR for better detail in both shadows and highlights. How much these promises translate into real image quality will only be shown by independent tests.

Seven Years of Updates and an Assistant That Doesn’t Understand Czech

The TV runs on the One UI Tizen system, where you’ll find Oneplay, Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, YouTube, and Spotify. For this year’s models, Samsung promises system updates for up to seven years, so the TV shouldn’t be left without new app versions in two years. The integrated SmartThings hub can also control compatible smart home devices, and you can control the TV from your phone via the Quick Remote feature.

Less joyful news concerns the new AI assistant Vision AI Companion, which Samsung is putting front and center. According to the manufacturer’s notes, it understands voice commands in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and Korean; Czech is missing among the supported languages. Samsung also warns that for some models, the remote control included in the package does not support voice recognition. So, anyone buying the TV for AI features should keep this in mind.

Consoles and Decent Sound: Where Samsung Saved Costs

The panel has a refresh rate of 50/60 Hz, which is sufficient for movies, series, and sports. However, gamers might encounter issues. While Alza mentions HDMI 2.1, FreeSync, and gaming mode among its gaming features, don’t expect 4K at 120 Hz from PlayStation 5 or Xbox. According to Samsung, the Motion Xcelerator feature in game mode can handle smoother display up to 2K at 120 Hz, so those who want a higher frame rate must compromise on resolution.

The second area where the lower price is noticeable is sound. 20W speakers are more of an emergency solution for a 65″ diagonal. While Samsung adds a virtual top channel and AI adaptive sound, for an action movie, I would count on a soundbar. Thanks to the Q-Symphony feature, the TV can play together with it if you get a compatible model. And a small detail at the end: only one USB port is available.

Living Room with Netflix Yes, Gaming Den Rather No

The Samsung UE65M70H is a large, current Mini LED backlit TV for those who primarily watch movies, series, and sports and want a system with long-term support. For 11,990 CZK with code 2026ALZAEXTRA30, you get 65 inches for a price at which 50-inch TVs were sold until recently. I would personally take it for a living room where Netflix is watched in the evening, with a soundbar planned.

On the other hand, those who play on consoles and want to fully utilize 120 Hz in 4K will be happier with a more expensive series. And if you are mainly attracted by voice-controlled AI features, Czech support is currently missing. For everyone else, the price is now 7,000 CZK lower than at launch, and those who were waiting for a significant discount have gotten it.
