Small, but smart. Xiaomi unveiled a new home control screen, surprisingly affordable

Xiaomi has expanded its smart home product offering with an interesting new addition. The Smart Control Screen is a compact touch panel designed for in-wall installation, intended to serve as a central control element for all smart devices in the home. The new product is currently only planned for the Chinese market, where a crowdfunding campaign with an attractive price will soon launch.

Touch display directly in the wall

The Xiaomi Smart Control Screen features a 3.83-inch touch display with an 8:16 aspect ratio, which occupies virtually the entire front surface. The device mounts into a standard 86mm installation box, so no special electrical modifications are needed. The panel is available in two color variants – white and dark gray.

The manufacturer also considered safety – the entire construction uses V-0 flame retardant materials and includes overheating and overload protection. Also included are three built-in relays, which allow direct control of up to three lighting circuits with a simple touch on the display.

Smart features and voice assistant

The Smart Control Screen runs on HyperOS with integrated artificial intelligence. Through the XiaoAi voice assistant, the device can process even complex commands like “turn off the lights, close the curtains, and turn on the air conditioning” all at once. The assistant also answers questions about health, lifestyle, and daily activities.

The panel includes a 24GHz millimeter-wave radar combined with a light sensor. This allows the display to automatically light up when a person approaches and adjust brightness to ambient lighting. There are also 45 different screen savers available, including animated weather, family photos, or text notes.

Wide compatibility with the Xiaomi ecosystem

The device is equipped with a Mesh 2.0 gateway for better connectivity with Bluetooth and Mesh devices in the home. It supports dual-band Wi-Fi at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies. According to the manufacturer, it is compatible with over 5,500 smart home products, with each panel capable of managing up to 48 devices simultaneously.

Through the Xiaomi Home app, users can customize the layout of control elements on the display across 12 pages. The Smart Control Screen also functions as a security center – displaying live feeds from Xiaomi cameras, information from locks, or a video doorbell. The Family Broadcast feature is also supported for sending voice messages to all connected devices in the home.

Price and availability

The Xiaomi Smart Control Screen has a recommended price of 399 yuan (approximately 1,200 CZK) in China, but will be available for 369 yuan (about 1,100 CZK) during crowdfunding on the Xiaomi Youpin platform. The campaign will start on November 10th. It is not yet clear whether the new product will ever reach global markets, including the Czech one.
