Smart mower for giant properties. Honda unveiled a model you can teach how to work yourself

ProZision Autonomous is Honda’s first fully electric ride-on mower with an autonomous mode. The manufacturer designed it for professional maintenance of extensive areas, public green spaces, and commercial complexes, where every hour of work saved and the repeatability of results are crucial. And why does it have a seat? Because you “teach” the machine to mow – you sit down, drive the ideal pattern, and the mower saves the route. Then it drives itself, and the employee can attend to other tasks.

How learning works: sit, drive, save

In the so-called Teaching mode, the operator mows normally, and the machine simultaneously records the trajectory, wheel speed and acceleration, mowing height, and overlaps. Thanks to the GNSS system (with centimeter-level corrections), a precise route map for the given location is created. Maps are stored in the cloud and can be shared across multiple machines – ideal for companies managing many sites.

In Playback mode, the ProZision Autonomous autonomously drives to the start, begins mowing, and replicates the learned pattern with minimal risk of streaks or missed spots. Everything is controlled via the Honda web or mobile application: you select the object, route, mowing height, or change direction for a healthier lawn, and the machine performs the work itself. This ensures the mowing quality matches the performance of your most experienced operators – without them having to be in the seat every time.

360° environmental perception and safety

The safety of autonomous operation is ensured by a system of 4 LiDARs and 4 radars for complete 360° coverage. The sensors distinguish between static and moving obstacles, the machine slows down in time and stops if necessary; an emergency STOP is present on the machine and remotely in the application. Rear discharge minimizes the risk of stones flying sideways, and traction control with independent rear-wheel motor management maintains a straight path even on uneven terrain.

Cut quality and heavy-duty equipment

The mower uses three units of 21″ MicroCut twin blades for fine, even mulching without the need for a second pass. Electric deck lift facilitates height adjustment (approx. 1.5–5.25″), and anti-scalp wheels protect the turf when traversing undulations. The chassis with all-wheel suspension dampens vibrations and increases both comfort and component lifespan.

The 48 V electric drive powers six Li-ion batteries with a total capacity of 19.2 kWh (charging from 240 V takes approximately 6.5 h). In manual mode, it can reach up to 10 mph, while in autonomous mode, it travels up to 6 mph; the maximum incline is approximately 15° (manual) and 10° (autonomous). The cutting width is 60″ (54″ for selected versions) and, depending on conditions, achieves very high area performance with several hours of endurance on a single charge.

Smart features for fleets

Mowing maps for multiple sites are managed in the cloud, and route transfers to machines occur via built-in telematics. The application provides an overview of location, battery status, task progress, and alerts when the machine stops due to an obstacle. Access is protected by a combination of a physical key and a digital code.

US debut coming soon, market launch next year

The Honda ProZision Autonomous is premiering this week at the Equip Exposition 2025 in Louisville, USA. The manufacturer states that it will go on sale in the US before the end of next year. Whether and when it will arrive in Europe is not clear at this time.
