Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 16 GB RAM. Poco F9 Ultra ran Geekbench

  • Poco F9 Ultra ran the Geekbench 7 test and confirmed the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor
  • The tested unit had 16 GB of RAM and, surprisingly, Android 16, even though Android 17 has been out for a while
  • It will likely be a re-branded Redmi K100 Pro Max, but with a smaller 8,050 mAh battery

Leaks surrounding the upcoming Poco F9 series have been increasing in the past week, and now a benchmark has been added. The Poco F9 Ultra ran the Geekbench 7 test, where it scored 2,980 points in the single-core and 10,030 in the multi-core test. This also confirmed the processor – it is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 from Qualcomm, complemented in the tested configuration by 16 GB of RAM.

New Flagship with Old Android

However, the most interesting item in the listing is not the performance, but the operating system. The phone in the test ran on Android 16, even though Android 17 has been out for some time. If the new device appears in the coming weeks, it may arrive directly with an older version of the system – which, unfortunately, is not uncommon for Xiaomi and its sub-brands; this manufacturer has never rushed to new Android versions. For a flagship buyer, this is a detail worth considering. On the other hand, it will offer top-notch performance and unique features such as speakers with a built-in subwoofer.

Re-branded Chinese Flagship, but with a Smaller Battery

According to speculation, it will be the international variant of the Redmi K100 Pro Max phone, which Xiaomi introduced in China on August 11. The company used the same scenario last year when the K90 Pro Max model became the Poco F8 Ultra. However, there is one significant difference: while the Chinese original offers a 9,070 mAh battery, the global version is expected to get only 8,050 mAh. This is noticeable – about a thousand milliamp-hours are gone. The rest of the equipment is expected to remain identical, i.e., a 6.9-inch AMOLED with a 185 Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, and a 200Mpx main camera.

Price So Far Only an Estimate

How much Xiaomi will ask remains open. An earlier leak mentioned an amount of “at least 999 euros” for the Ultra model and 799 euros for the weaker Pro, but that cautious “at least” suggests it’s more of a qualified estimate than hard data from internal materials. Xiaomi has not yet announced the launch date, but given the number of leaks, it should be close.

Would it bother you if a new flagship phone arrived with an older version of Android?
