Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station has brought fresh information about Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chipset. The successor to the current Snapdragon 8 Elite, which will be named Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 or Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, is expected to score over 4 million points in the AnTuTu benchmark. For comparison – the current record holder RedMagic 10S Pro+ achieves an average of 2.94 million points.

Two Performance Cores at 4.61 GHz

The new chipset will retain the architecture without efficiency cores. The standard version will offer two ultra-performance (so-called “Prime”) cores clocked at 4.61 GHz complemented by six performance cores running at a frequency of 3.63 GHz. The Adreno 840 graphics chip will run at a clock speed of 1.2 GHz.

Samsung will once again gain exclusive access to a more powerful variant. The Galaxy S26 series will thus receive a special version with Prime cores at 4.74 GHz. This practice has been ongoing for several years – Samsung pays Qualcomm for preferential access to a modified version of the chipset.

First Phones to Arrive from Xiaomi, Honor, and OnePlus

According to the leaker, the standard version of the chipset with a 4.61 GHz clock speed will first appear in phones from brands like Xiaomi, Honor, iQOO, OnePlus, and Realme. Chinese manufacturers will thus traditionally be the first to implement the new processor in their flagship models.

The more powerful version with a frequency of 4.74 GHz will remain temporarily exclusive to Samsung. Other manufacturers, according to the leaker, will gain access to it later in 2026.

Official Unveiling on September 23rd

Qualcomm will officially unveil the new chipset on September 23rd at the Snapdragon Summit 2025 conference. At that time, we will learn the final name of the processor and its complete technical specifications. The first phones with the new chipset are expected to appear in late 2025, or early 2026.

The jump from just under 3 million to over 4 million points in AnTuTu represents a performance increase of approximately 36 percent. Such an intergenerational shift suggests a significant architectural improvement or a transition to a more modern manufacturing process.
