Spotify and YouTube Music will get a new player design in Android Auto. This is what they will look like

During the May I/O developer conference, Google unveiled new player templates for music apps in Android Auto. The editorial team of Android Authority managed to prematurely document the interface for the popular services Spotify and YouTube Music, which currently remains in a closed beta version. Therefore, it may still take some time before it reaches your vehicle.

More Modern Look with Material 3

The new player template brings a completely redesigned interface for the currently playing track with a slider in the Material 3 Expressive design language. Furthermore, the interface automatically adapts to the display resolution in the car, so it will look good on both small and large screens.

The change primarily concerns the visual processing of control elements – Google opted for a more modern and cleaner design that aligns with the latest Material Design trends.

Availability Unknown So Far

The new templates are part of the Android for Cars App Library update, which Google introduced at the I/O 2025 conference. Developers can currently publish applications with the new design only for internal and closed testing on Google Play. According to Android Authority, activation required using Android Auto version 15.1.653404.

Google has not yet announced a specific date when the new interface will be made available to all users. However, we anticipate that it will be released to regular drivers in a few weeks at the earliest.
