SSD T-Create Expert P35SG destroys your data with a single SMS. The drive then physically burns itself. Home News TeamGroup showcased the portable SSD T-Create Expert P35SG with its own 4G modem at Computex 2026 To erase content, simply send a single SMS – the drive then initiates a two-phase destruction, from logical deletion to high-voltage burning of memory chips Once activated, the storage is irreversibly dead and also loses its warranty; it targets journalists, government agencies, lawyers, and companies that carry sensitive data Sdílejte: Adam Kurfürst Published: 21. 6. 2026 08:30 Advertisement What you know from spy movies has been brought by TeamGroup into an inconspicuous pocket drive: send a text message and the stored data is gone, and with it, the entire storage. The SSD T-Create Expert P35SG indeed features its own 4G modem. How does self-destruction work? The main trick is that the P35SG doesn’t need to be connected to anything. The Taiwanese manufacturer has built in a 4G LTE modem, so the drive connects to the mobile network on its own – it doesn’t need a computer or Wi-Fi. If it falls into the wrong hands or simply gets lost, you send a message to it and initiate destruction remotely. The erasure itself runs in two steps. First, a deep logical deletion of content occurs, followed by a high-voltage process that physically damages the memory chips themselves. The goal is to leave nothing recoverable from the data – not even for a forensic laboratory. Tom’s Hardware adds that this is a patented two-stage mechanism. For those who don’t trust remote control, TeamGroup also has the P35S sibling up its sleeve. It looks and erases the same, but instead of SMS, it relies on a physical button (see image above). This version operates via USB 3.2 Gen2 at speeds around 1,000 MB/s, weighs 42 grams, and will be offered in capacities of 256 GB, 512 GB, 1, and 2 TB. The manufacturer has not yet confirmed the specific parameters of the remote variant. What’s important to know The destruction is, of course, irreversible: once activated, the drive is, according to the manufacturer, permanently unusable, and its warranty also ends. Activating the failsafe by mistake therefore means losing both data and hardware at once. And then there’s the question to which no one yet knows the answer: how exactly is the remote command verified. TeamGroup has not disclosed what protects the SMS trigger against number spoofing or social engineering – and additionally, the drive needs a mobile signal to activate, so the remote failsafe is not valid in areas without coverage. Who is the T-Create Expert P35SG tailored for This drive is definitely not aimed at vacation photos. It makes more sense for someone who carries data whose leakage would be a real problem – the manufacturer names field technicians, journalists, government agencies, research, lawyers, or industrial projects. TeamGroup has not yet announced the price or sale date; the drive has so far been shown as a concept at Computex 2026. What do you think of such a drive?
