The Oppo brand has made it clear in recent years that it wants to be at the forefront of mobile photography. Its upcoming flagship may very well succeed in this, given the specifications – the top-tier Oppo Find X10 Pro Max is set to become the very first phone with three 200MP cameras simultaneously.

A 200-megapixel sensor is no rarity in flagships today, but manufacturers usually deploy it in only one position – either the main or the telephoto lens. This year, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra and vivo X300 Ultra models raised the bar, coming with two such sensors. According to a leak, Oppo is now preparing a move that would complete this small revolution. Information about the upcoming Find X10 series has been leaking for some time, but until now, the focus has mainly been on the smaller Find X10 Pro model.

Main Camera Reportedly Gets New Samsung Sensor

The information comes from the renowned leaker Digital Chat Station, who wrote on Weibo that the Find X10 Pro Max will feature three 200-megapixel cameras – main, telephoto, and ultrawide-angle. The main sensor is expected to be the new ISOCELL HPC from Samsung with DeepPix technology, which, according to the manufacturer, significantly improves dynamic range and suppresses noise. The telephoto lens should be periscopic, but we don’t have any further details about its specific implementation yet.

The remaining camera stands out the most from the setup. A phone with a 200MP ultrawide-angle camera has not existed yet. However, it’s worth noting that this is still just a leak – until Oppo officially unveils the device, take all specifications with a grain of salt.

What is a 200MP Ultrawide-Angle Camera Actually Good For?

High resolution in a wide-angle lens theoretically offers one major advantage: it allows for cropping a detail from the finished image, thus achieving approximately one to three times magnification without an additional lens. While crops from an ultrawide-angle camera usually lag behind images from the main sensor, by combining 16 pixels into one, the manufacturer can compensate for some of the loss and achieve brighter and cleaner photos. This will also be useful for macro photography, where such an approach will offer even more room for digital zoom.

It also makes good sense for video. Manufacturers often opt for a wide-angle sensor for strong stabilization modes, where they crop the edges from a larger chip to compensate for shakiness. With a 200MP sensor, stable stabilization would theoretically be possible even in 8K resolution – although in practice, only a handful of phones currently offer a similar feature in 4K.

The Rest of the Equipment Will Also Be Top-Notch

Under the hood, according to the leak, the latest MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro chip is expected to tick, and a generous 8,000 mAh battery with 100W wired charging is set to handle power. Thus, there should be no shortage of endurance or performance.

The premiere is expected as early as September, first in China; the phone is set to head to the rest of the world around the end of October. No specific price for the Czech Republic has been revealed yet – an Indian leak mentions a sum around 155,000 rupees (approximately 37,000 Czech crowns when converted), but local prices are inflated by high import taxes, so the European price tag will likely be different. However, it is probable that the Find will reach us: the previous Find X9 Pro made it to the Czech market.
