A 4K monitor for four thousand? A few years ago, it was sci-fi; today, it’s reality. The LG UltraFine 27US500-W offers four times the resolution of Full HD at a price for which you previously bought a decent 1080p panel. But is it really a good deal, or were compromises made somewhere?

4K for work, not for gaming

A resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels on a 27″ diagonal means extremely sharp text and detailed display. For programmers who want to see more lines of code, for graphic designers working with photos, or for anyone who spends hours with spreadsheets and documents, it’s a significant upgrade.

However, the 60 Hz refresh rate and 5 ms response time clearly state: this is not a gaming monitor. For office work and watching movies, it’s more than enough, but competitive gamers should look elsewhere.

IPS panel with wide viewing angles

IPS technology ensures consistent colors from any angle – practical when viewing the monitor with a colleague or when the monitor is slightly angled. 90% DCI-P3 color space coverage is solid for general graphic work, although professionals will opt for monitors with higher coverage and hardware calibration.

The maximum brightness of 300 nits is a standard office value. In a darker room, it’s fine, but if you have a large window behind you, the backlight might be on the edge. HDR10 is more marketing – with 300 nits and 8-bit color depth, HDR content has nowhere to shine.

What customers say

A rating of 4.7 out of 5 from 22 customers is excellent, with 95% of them recommending the monitor. A return rate of only 0.6% with over a thousand units sold indicates reliability. Unfortunately, detailed reviews are missing – only two are available, without specific insights.

The three-sided frameless design is appreciated when setting up multiple monitors side-by-side. VESA mounting 100 × 100 mm allows for arm mounting.

The original price was 5,490 CZK, and now with code ALZADNY20, it costs 4,072 CZK. For this price, you get a 4K IPS panel from the LG brand with a low return rate and high rating. If you’re looking for a monitor for work, programming, or watching movies and don’t need a high refresh rate, it’s a good offer. Just don’t expect to turn it into a gaming machine.

Have you already switched to a 4K monitor, or is Full HD/QHD still enough for you?
