Finnish sports watch manufacturer Suunto has officially launched the new Race 2 model on the Czech market, targeting primarily runners and active athletes. The watch is available at a price starting from 12,480 CZK for the stainless steel version, while the more premium titanium variants are more expensive. The new model builds on the previous generation with a significantly larger display, longer battery life, and lower weight.

Larger and brighter display for better readability

Suunto Race 2 features a 1.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 × 466 pixels. The maximum brightness reaches 2,000 nits, ensuring data remains readable even in direct sunlight. The watch supports Always-On Display with LTPO technology, which can reduce the refresh rate to 1 Hz to save energy while maintaining visibility of key information.

Compared to its predecessor, the Race 2 is 6% thinner and lighter – weighing 57 grams without the strap and 75 grams with it. The watch body is protected by sapphire glass and a durable bezel, with stainless steel models available in four colors: All Black, Feather Gray, Coral Orange, and Wave Blue. The titanium edition comes in Titanium Black and Titanium Trail shades.

Battery life up to 55 hours with accurate GPS

For long-distance runners, the Race 2 offers up to 55 hours of continuous GPS tracking in full power mode using dual GNSS. According to the manufacturer, this is sufficient for ultra-races lasting 168 to 200 kilometers. In regular use, the watch lasts up to 16 days with continuous heart rate monitoring, or up to 22 days with heart rate tracking turned off.

The watch supports four satellite systems simultaneously (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, BeiDou) with dual frequency L1+L5 for maximum positioning accuracy. Various power-saving modes are available, including Tour mode, which extends battery life up to 200 hours at the cost of lower GPS accuracy and disabled heart rate measurement.

Over 115 sport modes and offline navigation

Suunto Race 2 includes over 115 pre-set sport modes, including running, cycling, swimming, triathlon, and winter sports. Users can create their own modes with customized data fields according to their needs.

An interesting feature is the ability to download offline maps directly to the watch via the Suunto app. Maps allow for full navigation without the need for a phone or network connection. For trail runners, the Climb Guidance feature is available, providing real-time elevation data and helping with pacing during ascents and descents.

Advanced training metrics with AI support

The watch uses the TSS (Training Stress Score) system to quantify the training load of each exercise. Recovery Score combines sleep quality, training balance, heart rate variability (HRV), and post-workout feedback into a single number. Long-term progress is tracked by CTL (Cumulative Training Load) along with measurements of VO₂ Max and lactate threshold.

An improved optical sensor ensures more accurate heart rate measurement during daily activities and workouts. The watch alerts to high heart rate in real-time, helping to prevent overtraining.

Third-party app integration

Race 2 supports data synchronization to popular platforms such as Strava, Adidas Running, MapMyRun, Runkeeper, and TrainingPeaks. Data can be exported, challenges joined, or various training plans utilized.

The watch supports smart notifications, music control, and payments (depending on the region). Water resistance up to 100 meters allows for swimming in open water and pools. It also includes a barometric altimeter, compass, and weather tracking, including storm alerts.

Availability and prices in the Czech Republic

Suunto Race 2 is immediately available in the Czech Republic in several color variants. The basic stainless steel version costs 12,480 CZK, while titanium models are priced at 14,980 CZK. The watch can be purchased from official Suunto retailers and common electronics e-shops.
