Czech summers are getting warmer and warmer, and air conditioning remains either too expensive or too complicated to install for many apartments. A ceiling fan is a cheaper and undemanding compromise. Alza, with its Siguro brand, is now adding what we expect from almost every appliance today to this good old principle: mobile connectivity. The new model Canopy C150LW combines a fan, LED light, and support for control via the Tuya app into one product.

Smart Features via Tuya App

The main advantage over conventional ceiling fans is connectivity with the Tuya mobile app. From your phone, you can switch any of the six speeds, turn the light on and off, or adjust its intensity, without getting up from the couch. Additionally, Tuya supports timers and scheduling, so you can, for example, schedule the fan to turn on before you arrive home from work.

For the light, you will appreciate the adjustable color temperature in three shades (warm, neutral, and cool) as well as brightness control, allowing you to adapt the same fixture for reading or evening gatherings. If you don’t want to reach for your phone, the package also includes a classic remote control, including batteries. The Tuya platform is usually compatible with Google and Alexa voice assistants and smart scenes; however, Alza explicitly states only app control for this model – therefore, we recommend verifying integration with assistants directly with the seller.

Performance, Wooden Blades, and Winter Mode

Airflow is provided by a motor with a power consumption of 28 W, which, according to the manufacturer, can handle a flow rate of up to 5,890 CFM. The fan operates in two modes – besides natural airflow simulation, which varies the speed to make the breeze feel more natural, it also offers a reversible (winter) mode. This rotates the blades in reverse, drawing warm air accumulated near the ceiling back down into the room, making the device useful even during the heating season.

In terms of construction, Siguro opted for solid paulownia wood blades with a whitewash finish, giving the fan a more refined look than plastic. A diameter of 132 cm and a height of 46 cm correspond to the recommendation for rooms with an area of 20 to 40 m², and the weight is 5 kg. The light source is an SMD LED panel with a power consumption of 22 W, and overheating protection is also included. The seller provides a three-year warranty for the entire device.

Who the C150LW Makes Sense For

The Canopy C150LW is aimed at those who want two devices in one – a light and a fan – and are also attracted by phone control without the need to build a complex smart home. The reversible mode makes it a sensible year-round investment, not just for a few summer weeks. However, keep in mind that it is a permanently installed indoor fixture, so you will likely need an electrician for installation on a higher ceiling, and the device runs on the Tuya ecosystem – so owners of homes built around Mi Home, SmartThings, or Apple HomeKit will not get native integration.

The model is priced at 3,599 CZK, or 3,239 CZK for AlzaPlus+ members. If you have a smaller room, Alza also offers the sibling Siguro Canopy C100W (51 cm diameter, for rooms 8–15 m²) for 2,399 CZK, or the darker C150DW variant with identical features. Among the competition, smart ceiling fans like IMMAX NEO, which also run on Tuya, are worth mentioning. The C150LW stands out among them mainly due to its wooden blades and large diameter – for a large living room at a reasonable price, it’s an interesting choice, but for fans of a specific ecosystem, control via Tuya might be a compromise.

Are you attracted to smart ceiling fans, or do you prefer classic air conditioning?
