If you’re looking for an affordable yet practical tablet for studying, working, or consuming content, we have a tip for you. The Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11 received a big discount on Alza – the original price of 9,363 CZK dropped with code ALZADNY20 to just 7,490 CZK. And note, the package includes not only the tablet but also a keyboard with a touchpad, an active stylus, and a protective cover with a stand. All included in the price.

What do you get for 7,490 CZK?

The Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11 (model M889) is a 2-in-1 device – it functions as a tablet, and when the keyboard is connected, it transforms into a small laptop. At its heart is an octa-core MediaTek Kompanio 838 chipset with a clock speed of up to 2.6 GHz, assisted by 8 GB of RAM and 128GB eMMC storage. It’s not a performance monster, but it’s perfectly sufficient for Chrome OS.

The display has a diagonal of 10.95″ with an IPS panel and a resolution of 1,920 × 1,200 pixels (WUXGA). The maximum brightness of 400 nits is not dazzling but solid for indoor use. It supports 10-point multitouch, and thanks to the included active stylus, you can take notes or draw directly on the screen. Battery life is around 12 hours, which is a very respectable figure for such a compact device.

Keyboard, stylus, and stand included

What makes this tablet an interesting offer is the complete package. The keyboard connects magnetically via pins on the bottom edge; the touchpad is small but functional. The back cover also serves as protection and a stand with an opening angle of up to 170°, allowing you to position the tablet in almost any way.

The active stylus is stored in a case that slides into the back cover. It’s not the most elegant solution (Samsung handles this with magnetic attachment on the Galaxy Tab), but for a price under 8,000 CZK, there’s nothing to complain about. The total weight, including the keyboard, is 1.1 kg, making it a very portable device.

Chrome OS: fast, secure, long-supported

The Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11 runs on Chrome OS, an operating system from Google built on speed and security. Unlike Android or Windows, Chrome OS is less demanding on hardware, so it runs smoothly even with an average chipset. Furthermore, Google guarantees 10 years of updates, which is significantly more than with Android tablets.

The advantage of Chrome OS is the ability to run Android apps from Google Play, web apps from Chrome, and even Linux programs (for advanced users). You can work in Google Docs, stream movies on Netflix, play games from Google Play, or even program in a Linux environment. Furthermore, the system supports multiple users, so the whole family can share the tablet.

What do users say?

According to reviews on Alza, customers primarily praise the battery life, quality display, and complete package. They also appreciate the ability to run Android apps and the automatic switching between desktop and tablet mode after disconnecting the keyboard. Criticism is directed at the lack of keyboard backlighting, weaker speakers, and the fact that the keyboard does not connect wirelessly (only physically via pins).

One reviewer points out that the stylus does not have the lowest response time, and some Android applications do not behave ideally in Chrome OS (for example, they ignore the touchpad). However, for everyday use – writing texts, browsing the web, video calls, watching videos – the tablet is perfectly sufficient.

We know it from our own review

Some time ago, on Svět Androida, we tested an older generation Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 5 Chromebook with a 13.3″ OLED display. At that time, we were particularly impressed by its large OLED panel, excellent battery life, and versatility of use. Weaker points included the quality of the speakers and the somewhat weaker performance of the Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 chipset.

The new Duet 11 model has a smaller display (10.95″ vs. 13.3″) and an IPS panel instead of OLED, a different chipset (MediaTek Kompanio 838 vs. Snapdragon 7c Gen 2), and a lower price. If you don’t mind the smaller diagonal and the absence of OLED, the current Duet 11 is a better choice for significantly less money.

Who is the Chromebook Duet 11 for?

This tablet is ideal for students who need a device for taking notes, watching online lectures, and working with documents. It is also suitable for home use – web browsing, watching Netflix, video calls. Thanks to the stylus, you will also appreciate the Chromebook Duet 11 for drawing or handwritten notes.

Conversely, it is not suitable for demanding graphics work, 4K video editing, or playing AAA games. The 128 GB storage is also not overly generous, but Chrome OS expects you to use Google Drive cloud storage (with the tablet, you get 3 months of Google One AI Premium and 100 GB of storage for a year free).
