Anyone who wants a picture with a diagonal over two meters at home and doesn’t want to deal with a projector or darkening the living room will sooner or later end up with a TV with an above-average diagonal. The TCL 85C6K PRO with an 85″ panel now costs 29,244 CZK with code 2026ALZAEXTRA35. This means it costs 15,746 CZK less than its April market launch price. For that money, you get this year’s model with Mini LED backlighting, a 144Hz native refresh rate for gaming, and sound by Onkyo.

Discounted by more than a third since April

The TCL 85C6K PRO entered the Czech market this April for 44,990 CZK. In the last promotion, it sold for 39,942 CZK, but now it’s significantly lower: code 2026ALZAEXTRA35 takes exactly 35% off the price, so you will pay 29,244 CZK. Compared to April, this is a saving of 15,746 CZK; compared to the last promotion, it’s 10,698 CZK. That this is not an inflated discount is confirmed by the HlídačShopů widget directly on the product page, which calculates a real discount of 26% from the lowest price before the promotion.

In addition, Alza adds four months of SledovaniTV subscription, which you activate by registering on the service’s website. The TV is in stock, and the e-shop can not only deliver it but also carry it up to your apartment.

What can 420 zones and 1,000 nits do?

Mini LED backlighting illuminates and dims the picture zone by zone, so black can remain black while a bright detail shines next to it. The TCL 85C6K PRO has 420 such zones, and the manufacturer states an HDR brightness of up to 1,000 nits. In practice, this should mean a readable picture even in a sunlit living room and distinct bright details in movies, which will run here in both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ formats.

Colors are handled by a quantum dot layer, with which TCL promises 93% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. However, this is a figure from the manufacturer’s laboratories, which we cannot independently verify. The image is processed by the AiPQ Pro processor, which, among other things, is designed to enhance lower-resolution video, typically older shows or weaker streams.

144 Hz for gamers, built-in subwoofer for movies

The panel runs at 100/120 Hz, but in gaming mode, it can handle 144 Hz at 4K resolution. It also adds HDMI 2.1, automatic low latency mode (ALLM), and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support. PC gamers will get the most out of this, consoles won’t fully utilize such a high refresh rate, but they will still get a smooth picture with low response time.

Sound is provided by an Onkyo 2.1 system with 40 W power and a built-in subwoofer, which supports both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. For regular viewing, it should be more than sufficient. However, anyone who wants a corresponding cinema experience with a picture over two meters will likely buy a soundbar eventually.

Smart features are handled by Google TV with Google Assistant, so Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, YouTube, and the Czech Oneplay are at your fingertips right after turning it on. You can send video from Android to the TV via Chromecast, and from iPhone via AirPlay 2. For traditional broadcasting, DVB-T2, S2, and C tuners are included.

Where does cheaper Mini LED have its limits?

Mini LED doesn’t automatically mean top-tier. 420 zones and 1,000 nits correspond to a solid mid-range – the flagship TCL 85C9K, whose discount we wrote about a few weeks ago, offers several times more zones and brightness. Thus, in dark scenes with subtitles or a starry sky, you might more often notice light haloing around bright objects on the C6K PRO.

The panel type also deserves attention. TCL boasts a matte HVA panel with high native contrast for the C6K PRO series, but on its own website, it explicitly lists it only for the 55, 65, and 75-inch versions. Thus, for the eighty-five-inch model, it’s not certain that you will get it, even though the description on Alza mentions an HVA panel.

And then there’s the purely practical side of things. A TV with a 215 cm diagonal needs a large wall and plenty of seating space, otherwise, you’ll be craning your neck like in the front row of a cinema. You probably won’t even hang it yourself, but Alza offers wall mounting for 1,899 CZK. The single USB port is a bit of a shame.

Who will benefit most from the discount?

The TCL 85C6K PRO will be appreciated mainly by those who want the largest possible picture for their living room and don’t want to pay flagship prices for it, perhaps as a replacement for an older, smaller TV or a projector. For 29,244 CZK with code 2026ALZAEXTRA35, you get this year’s Mini LED with Dolby Vision, a 144Hz panel, and decent sound. Those who mainly watch movies in a darkened room and want the most precise blacks will likely opt for a model with more zones or an OLED. And for those whose room can’t accommodate 85 inches, the same series is available in smaller diagonals.
