When Amazfit launched the Cheetah 2 Pro model two weeks ago, it gave Czech runners an interesting alternative to mid-range Garmins for 11,290 CZK. Even then, it was rumored that an even higher-end version was waiting on the production line. Today, that’s a reality: Amazfit Cheetah 2 Ultra are officially coming to the Czech Republic. The pre-sale price of 14,990 CZK is 3,700 CZK higher than the Pro variant, but for the extra cost, you get a larger display, double the storage, significantly better battery, and software features aimed directly at trail running.

Titanium, Sapphire, and a 1.5″ Display with 3,000 Nits Brightness

Cheetah 2 Ultra relies on a proven combination of materials from a higher price category. Amazfit made the bezel, frame, and back cover from Grade 5 titanium, and the screen is protected by scratch-resistant sapphire glass. The case itself, however, is made of plastic – here the brand logically saved weight, so the watch weighs 52 grams without the strap.

The display is slightly larger compared to the Pro model – from 1.32″ it increases to 1.5″ with a resolution of 480 × 480 pixels and a pixel density of 323 PPI. The maximum brightness remains at 3,000 nits, so the screen remains readable even in bright midday sun or at high altitudes. The package includes two straps – a black silicone and a nylon one – and a magnetic charging base compatible with USB-C. However, the cable is not included in the package; the manufacturer omitted it for ecological reasons, which might be a minor drawback for some.

780 mAh Battery and Up to 30 Days of Battery Life

If the Cheetah 2 Pro offers 20 days of battery life from a 540mAh battery, the Ultra goes even further. Its 780mAh cell is designed to last up to 30 days in typical usage, or 60 hours with dual-band GPS enabled. In Trail Running mode, which has the always-on display, heart rate tracking, and navigation enabled, the manufacturer states 33 hours of continuous running – which covers even the longest ultramarathon races. A full charge takes approximately 3 hours.

The second major upgrade is storage. The Ultra has 64 GB of internal memory, twice as much as the Pro variant. This capacity allows you to download detailed offline maps of an entire region, podcasts for long training blocks, and music for running without a phone.

Trail Mode and Contour Maps: The Main Reason to Pay Extra

While the Cheetah 2 Pro was built for road marathoners, the Ultra has a directly targeted Trail Running mode in its software. This mode incorporates route incline, terrain resistance, and total elevation gain into the load calculation, so the measured intensity more accurately reflects what the body actually experiences. The watch can also display a color-coded elevation profile of the entire route, allowing you to better distribute your energy between climbs.

A secondary draw is full-color contour maps directly on your wrist. Navigation is powered by a circularly polarized GPS antenna with dual-frequency positioning and support for six satellite systems (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, QZSS, NavIC). This should keep the position stable even in dense forests, gorges, and remote terrain. Also included are automatic route recalculation, point of interest search, and the ability to import GPX files.

Improved LED Flashlight with Boost and SOS Modes

The Cheetah 2 Pro watches already had an LED flashlight, but it received a significant upgrade in the Ultra. Two-phase lighting offers both white and red light, the intensity can be boosted up to 300 lux in Boost mode, and in an emergency, the SOS mode with recognizable flashing can help. For early morning training before dawn or long night sections, this is a practical feature that competitors in this price range do not directly offer.

What Do They Have in Common with the Cheaper Pro Model?

A lot of the features are identical for both models. The Ultra supports 180+ sports modes, automatic recognition of 25 strength exercises, and modes for HYROX. Also available are BioCharge – a daily readiness indicator based on sleep, HRV, blood oxygen saturation, and respiratory rate data – and Zepp Coach with adaptive training plans. The watches synchronize with TrainingPeaks, Runna, Intervals.icu and send activities to Strava.

NFC payments via Zepp Pay also work, which in the Czech Republic are currently supported by MasterCard from mBank, Raiffeisenbank, and Curve cards. Bluetooth 5.2 enables phone calls from the wrist, and the Zepp Flow voice assistant can reply to WhatsApp messages – but be aware, full functionality is only available for Android users. Water resistance remains at 5 ATM, which is sufficient for swimming, rain, and showering, but not enough for diving.

Who the Cheetah 2 Ultra Makes Sense For – and Who It Doesn’t

The Ultra variant is a clear choice for trail runners, ultramarathoners, and mountain racers who need long GPS tracking, navigation in complex terrain, and a battery that can last even multi-day trekking without a charger. If you are considering starting an ultrarun like UTMB or are seriously preparing for a marathon in mountainous terrain, the extra 3,700 CZK over the Pro variant will pay off in the form of contour maps, battery life, and the Trail Running mode with realistic load calculation.

Conversely, road marathoners and recreational runners will be perfectly fine with the Cheetah 2 Pro for 11,290 CZK. Most features – titanium, sapphire, dual-band GPS, Zepp Coach, NFC payments, integration with Strava and TrainingPeaks – will be available in the same quality. Similarly, divers should look elsewhere: 5 ATM is only sufficient for swimming. If you need to breathe underwater, look for watches with 10 ATM certification instead. And iPhone users must account for the fact that features like Zepp Flow voice control or replying to WhatsApp messages will be limited.

Compared to the Garmin Fenix 8 or Forerunner 970, the Amazfit comes out as price-attractive – for 14,990 CZK, you get titanium, sapphire, contour maps, and 30-day battery life, which for Garmin means a price over 20,000 CZK. The catch remains Zepp OS, which is poorer in third-party applications compared to Garmin Connect IQ and generally focuses more on sport than productivity. For some, this is a plus (less distraction), for others, a minus.

Are you tempted by the Cheetah 2 Ultra for ultramarathons, or will the cheaper Pro variant suffice?
