When Samsung introduced the Galaxy Watch7 40mm last July, the starting price was 7,999 CZK. These were solid smartwatches with a number of improvements over their predecessor, but at that price, they faced a lot of competition. Since then, however, more than a year has passed, and the price has dropped to a level that makes the Watch7 an absolute bestseller in terms of price/performance. According to Heureka.cz, you can buy them today for 3,490 CZK – which is half the original price.

Why Watch7 and not Watch8?

Galaxy Watch8 are on the market and bring a few improvements – slightly longer battery life, enhanced health features, or a brighter display. However, all key new features from Watch8 were brought to Galaxy Watch7 through the One UI 8 Watch update. This update introduced a new interface, Now Bar for quick access to active functions, improved health metrics (Antioxidant Index, Running Coach, Vascular Load), and a host of other minor enhancements.

The result? Watch7 are practically identical to Watch8 today in terms of software, but cost half the price. And when you consider that the hardware base is almost identical for both generations, choosing Watch7 for 3.5 thousand crowns makes enormous sense.

What you get for 3,490 CZK

Let’s start with the processor: the 3nm Exynos W1000 chip ensures smooth system operation, fast switching between applications, and low power consumption. This means the watch will last over a day and night on a single charge, even with active use.

However, the sensor equipment is key. The BioActive sensor with 13 LED lights combines optical and electrical sensors to monitor heart rate, sleep phases, oxygen consumption, and other health data. The measurement accuracy of Watch7 is significantly better than older models – Samsung claims it is the most advanced sensor it has ever integrated into a Galaxy Watch.

Another important new feature is dual GPS operating in L1 and L5 bands. Classic GPS in watches uses only one band (L1), which can cause inaccuracies in areas with weak signals (dense urban areas, forest cover). Dual GPS in Watch7 combines signals from both bands, making the route recording much more accurate – you’ll appreciate this especially when running or cycling in the city.

Galaxy AI directly on your wrist

Samsung has integrated Galaxy AI artificial intelligence features into Galaxy Watch7, which improve the handling of health and training data. The most useful is Energy Score – a daily overview of your fitness based on sleep, heart activity, and physical activity. The system then recommends whether today is a good day for an intense workout or if it’s better to rest.

The Running Coach feature then creates a personalized training plan based on your results and goals. Galaxy AI algorithms continuously evaluate your form and adjust the intensity of your training to prevent overtraining or, conversely, insufficient load.

Also included is advanced sleep monitoring with analysis of individual phases and tips for better rest. Watch7 can also detect irregular heart rhythm and, if suspected, will alert you to undergo an electrocardiogram (ECG) test.

One UI 8 Watch: what’s new

The update to One UI 8 Watch with Wear OS 6 brought several key new features to Galaxy Watch7. The most prominent is the Now Bar – a widget that displays all ongoing activities (stopwatch, workout, timer, navigation) in one place. Just swipe your finger, and you have an overview of everything currently running.

New health features include Antioxidant Index (monitoring oxidative stress), Bedtime Guidance (optimizing sleep time), and Vascular Load (monitoring vascular strain). All these functions run directly on the watch thanks to AI algorithms, so there’s no need to have your phone constantly with you.

The improved interface also brings the ability to display multiple widgets on one page, extended control using double tap, and new watch faces. Samsung has also redesigned notification display for better clarity.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch7 for 3,490 CZK is simply a great buy. You get a premium smartwatch with advanced sensors, dual GPS, Galaxy AI features, and the latest One UI 8 Watch software. The newer Galaxy Watch8 don’t bring enough new features to justify the premium.

If you’re looking for a smartwatch with Wear OS and don’t want to pay 8-10 thousand for the latest model, the Galaxy Watch7 is the clear choice. At this price, it’s the best you can get on the market.
