The central brain of a smart home! Shelly's new product impresses with a large display and Home Assistant support

The Shelly brand is expanding its portfolio with an interesting product for smart home enthusiasts. The Wall Display XL wall control panel is now entering the European market, which – as the name suggests – offers a generous 10.1-inch HD touchscreen. The display serves as the central brain for controlling connected devices from lights to fans to dehumidifiers, both in homes and commercial spaces.

Complete Control Over Your Smart Home

The Shelly Wall Display XL is not just a passive screen – the device features a built-in relay that allows direct control of appliances with a power consumption of up to 1,500 W. On the right side of the panel, you’ll find four fully customizable buttons that can be programmed for quick activation of specific actions or entire scenes.

In addition to controlling individual devices, the display can also monitor energy consumption for compatible Shelly products marked PM. For audio notifications and alarms, two built-in 2W stereo speakers are available, and the panel can also be connected to external Sonos speakers or other Bluetooth devices.

Smart Sensors and Connectivity

The manufacturer also considered practical details. An integrated proximity sensor can automatically activate the display when someone approaches it, and a manual switch is also available. The equipment also includes a light sensor, which can be used for intelligent adjustment of connected device settings depending on ambient lighting.

In terms of connectivity, the Wall Display XL offers support for Bluetooth 5.4 and dual-band Wi-Fi 6. The device is compatible with the Shelly Smart Control app, MQTT protocol, and the Home Assistant platform. However, it is important to note that integration with popular ecosystems such as Amazon Alexa, Google Home, or Samsung SmartThings is currently missing.

Installation and Availability

The Shelly Wall Display XL is designed for installation into a standard in-wall electrical box, compatible with European standards. The device measures 155.8 × 272.5 × 38.3 mm and is available in two color variants: black with a gray frame or black with a black frame.

The new control panel is already available in Shelly’s official European e-shop for a price of 289 euros (approximately 7,100 CZK). Whether and when the product might also appear on the Czech market is not yet clear.
