This TP-Link card costs less than a thousand crowns and features an Intel Wi-Fi 6E chipset, the same platform you’d find in premium notebooks. The 420 CZK difference from the regular price will cover the annual membership more than once.

Key parameters explained in plain language

The designation AXE5400 consists of three numbers: 574 Mb/s on 2.4 GHz, 2,402 Mb/s on 5 GHz, and the same speed on 6 GHz. If you add them up, you get the marketing 5,400. In reality, however, you only connect to one band at a time — so the crucial number is 2,402 Mb/s.

What the new frequency truly brings, however, is peace of mind. The 6 GHz band is currently empty because most nearby devices cannot even see it. Practically, this means that your neighbor’s microwave or fifteen routers in the building won’t ruin your latency in online games, and transferring a large file over the network won’t drop by half in the middle.

Practical aspects: installation, antennas, and one annoying cable

The card fits into a PCI Express slot, and the package also includes a low-profile bracket for small cases. The antennas are not mounted on the card itself but on a magnetic base with a one-meter cable — you place them on your desk, attach them to the side of the case, and find where they get the best reception. More practical than two stubs at the back near the floor.
