In mid-September, we wrote that Alza was selling an 80,000mAh power bank for 1,299 CZK, and even then, we considered it a device offering a lot of energy for little money. Now, the giant ChoeTech model has seen its first promotion, and you can get this energy supply for your cottage or other longer trips even cheaper. With code ALZADNY25, you can buy the power bank for 974 CZK instead of 1,299 CZK, making it cost less than a thousand crowns for the first time.

Quick summary:
✅ It’s worth it if you’re looking for a large power supply for a cottage, festival, or camping, and you don’t mind carrying more than a kilo and a half.
⚠️ Be aware that with a capacity of 222 Wh, you cannot take it on a plane, and 22.5 W of power is not enough for charging a laptop.
💡 For 974 CZK, you get it 325 CZK cheaper than it was sold since September.

Since September for 1,299 CZK, now under a thousand for the first time

Alza added the power bank to its offer as a new product for 1,299 CZK and sold it for the same amount until now. With code ALZADNY25, it now costs 974 CZK, so the discount is 325 CZK, or 25%. The product also has the HlídačShopů (Shop Watchdog) label “We agree on the discount,” which indicates that it is not an artificially inflated original price.

It found buyers even without a promotion, with over 200 units sold on Alza. More than five units are now in stock, so you don’t have to wait for further restocking to place an order.

How much energy fits into a 1.6-kilogram brick?

The manufacturer states a capacity of 80,000 mAh at 3.7 V, which is 222 Wh. Watt-hours are a more accurate figure because milliamp-hours alone without voltage don’t say much. You can recharge your phone many times from it, and you can manage a multi-day stay without an outlet even with a tablet and headphones. Just don’t expect the full capacity from the box to reach your device, as some energy is lost in every power bank during voltage conversion.

In practice, it’s more of a small backup station than an everyday power bank. It makes sense for a long weekend camping, a multi-day festival, or a cottage without electricity, or in a drawer as a backup for when the power goes out at home and you need to keep your phone alive.

Three ports, a display, and one USB-C for everything

The power bank has two USB-A outputs and one USB-C, so you can charge a phone, watch, and headphones simultaneously, for example. The USB-C port is bidirectional, meaning you can recharge the power bank with the same cable and also power other electronics from it. A cable with a USB-C connector is included in the package.

Fast charging supports the USB Power Delivery standard with a total output of up to 22.5 W. If you connect multiple devices to the power bank at once, the power will be distributed among them. The battery status is monitored by a digital display, so you can see at a glance how much energy is left, and a sturdy strap serves for carrying. The plastic body measures 150 × 71 × 100 mm.

It won’t be allowed on a plane and won’t fit in your pocket

That much energy weighs something. The power bank weighs 1,650 grams, so you’ll find space for it in a backpack or car trunk, not in a jacket pocket. And for air travel, leave it at home: with 222 Wh, it exceeds the limit that airlines allow for power banks.

The second compromise is power output. 22.5 W is not enough for charging a laptop, but it’s ample for a phone, tablet, or headphones. Also, keep in mind that recharging such a large battery via USB-C takes a long time, so connect it to a charger well in advance of your trip and let it charge overnight.

When is 80,000 mAh unnecessarily much?

If you’re looking for a power bank to carry every day to work or school, this one will likely annoy you, and a smaller model would serve better. Anyone who wants to charge a laptop from a power bank should look for the more powerful sibling, the Choetech PD65W with 50,000 mAh and 65 W, about whose first promotion we wrote a few days ago. And for air travel, you need a power bank that fits under the airline limit.

Who will the giant ChoeTech for 974 CZK make happy?

It will be most appreciated by cottage owners, campers, and festival-goers who spend several days without an outlet and don’t want to worry every evening about whose battery will run out. It will also serve well as a home backup in case of a power outage. At 974 CZK with code ALZADNY25, it is the lowest price it has been available for so far.

Would you take a power bank weighing over a kilo and a half to a cottage or camping?
