Following last year’s shift to an August launch date, Google is sticking with the same strategy – to get to market earlier than the (Apple) competition and attract potential hesitant customers before the autumn premieres. And this year, it looks like it has something to impress with. Design without surprises, blue saves it Tensor G5 finally matured Pixelsnap – magnetic charging for Android Magic Cue – an AI assistant that truly helps Pixel 10 – finally with a triple camera Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL – slight evolution Pixel 10 Pro Fold – the first foldable with IP68 Seven years of support, but no physical SIM in the USA Conclusion: Evolution in the right direction Czech prices and availability Design without surprises, blue saves it Let’s be frank – the Pixel 10 looks almost identical to the Pixel 9. Google established this design last year, significantly bringing its appearance closer to current iPhones – rounded corners, flat back, aluminum frame. And apparently, it didn’t intend to change anything about it, at least this year. The characteristic full-width camera bar on the back remains the only distinctive element that sets Pixels apart from the competition. The only thing that immediately catches your eye is the new color variant of the base model – deep blue “Indigo”, which looks truly stunning. It’s a very rich shade that contrasts with the otherwise subdued colors of the Pro models. Next to it, “Limoncello” green looks a bit dull, and classic black and white are just… classic. Pro models stick to more conservative shades – besides black and white, they will only offer a subtle green “Jade” and a grayish-blue “Moonstone”. Tensor G5 finally matured At the heart of all four models – Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold – is the new Google Tensor G5 processor. And for the first time in a long time, we can talk about a truly significant upgrade. Google abandoned its problematic collaboration with Samsung and had the chip manufactured by TSMC on a 3nm process, the same one Apple uses for the iPhone 16 Pro. The result? The CPU is on average 34% faster than Tensor G4, which will be most noticeable in demanding tasks and multitasking. Even more important, however, is the improved energy efficiency – finally, Pixels should not suffer from overheating and rapid battery drain under load. While we are not at the level of Snapdragon 8 Elite, performance this time should really not be the main stumbling block for the new phones. Pixelsnap – magnetic charging for Android One of the most interesting new features of this year’s series is the Pixelsnap magnetic technology. Google has finally implemented full support for the Qi2 standard, including magnets directly in the phone. No magnetic case is needed – just attach a compatible charger or accessory, and it will automatically snap into place. The offerings will include a Pixelsnap Charger for $55 (approx. 1,200 CZK), a charging stand for $99 (2,100 CZK), or a magnetic ring for $49 (1,000 CZK). Base models charge wirelessly at 15W, while the Pro XL can handle up to 25W. The best part, however, is that Pixelsnap is compatible with thousands of existing MagSafe accessories – from wallets to car mounts to power banks. Magic Cue – an AI assistant that truly helps Google introduces Magic Cue with the new phones, a new feature utilizing contextual AI directly on the phone. For example, when you call an airline, it automatically finds your flight details. When a friend texts you about an Airbnb address, it instantly searches for it for quick sharing. Everything runs locally on the Tensor G5, so there’s an emphasis on security. Another AI novelty is Camera Coach – Gemini models built directly into the camera app will advise you on composition, lighting, or selecting the correct mode. Pixel 10 – finally with a triple camera The base Pixel 10 undergoes the biggest changes in the camera department. For the first time, it gets a triple setup – a 48MP main sensor, a 13MP ultrawide lens, and a new 10.8MP telephoto lens with 5x zoom. This is a big step up from last year’s model, which only had two cameras. But there’s a catch – Google used smaller sensors than in the Pixel 9. Both the main and ultrawide cameras have the same chips as the cheaper Pixel 9a, which means poorer light performance. The addition of a telephoto lens partially compensates for this, but even that is not groundbreaking. It has a chip size of 1/3.2″ and its quality will likely be similar to that of the base Galaxy S25. Otherwise, it’s a solid base with a 6.3″ OLED display (120 Hz, 3000 nits), 12 GB RAM, and a 4970 mAh battery. Charging has sped up to 30W, meaning 55% capacity in half an hour. The price starts at 22,990 CZK for the 128GB version. Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL – slight evolution The flagship models Pixel 10 Pro (6.3″) and Pro XL (6.8″) bring improvements mainly in video. New optical stabilization combined with Video Boost allows for truly smooth video recording even when moving, according to Google. 8K video at 30 fps or 4K at 60 fps with HDR is supported. The camera remains similar to last year – a 50MP main, 48MP ultrawide, and 48MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. Pro Res Zoom promises up to 100x magnification with better quality than before. The selfie camera has an impressive 42 MP and supports autofocus. Last year, I already called the front camera one of the best ever, and this year will likely be no different. Pro models get 16 GB RAM and faster UFS 4.0 storage. The battery is 4870 mAh for the Pro, and 5200 mAh for the Pro XL – the largest in Pixel history. Charging supports 30W for the smaller model and 45W for the larger model. Prices start at 27,990 CZK for the Pro and 32,990 CZK for the Pro XL, which now starts directly with 256 GB. Pixel 10 Pro Fold – the first foldable with IP68 The foldable Pixel 10 Pro Fold receives the biggest improvements. Google boasted the first foldable with IP68 certification – full protection against dust and water. This is a significant milestone, as Samsung and Motorola only offer IP48, while the new Honor Magic V5 meets IP58/59. The new gearless hinge is said to be twice as durable as its predecessor and reportedly withstands over 10 years of folding. The inner display still measures 8 inches, while the outer one has grown to 6.4″ thanks to thinner bezels. Both can achieve a brightness of up to 3000 nits. The improved 48MP main camera is complemented by a 5x telephoto lens and an ultrawide sensor. The main sensor is likely the same as in the base Pixel 10, or rather the Pixel 9a. With a 5015 mAh battery, the phone reportedly lasts over 24 hours, and charging is faster – 50% in 30 minutes. Unfortunately, the price remains high – $1799 (38,000 CZK) for the base 256GB version. Moreover, the foldable will not arrive in our region this year either. It will be available in Canada from October 9th, while other models are heading to stores as early as August 28th. Seven years of support, but no physical SIM in the USA All Pixel 10 models will receive 7 years of OS updates and security patches. The phones launch directly with Android 16. A controversial new feature is the removal of the physical SIM card slot in US models – they will only work with eSIM. In Europe, phones will retain the physical slot for now. Conclusion: Evolution in the right direction Google is not revolutionizing with the Pixel 10 series, but it is moving in the right direction. The Tensor G5 finally (at least slightly) catches up with the competition, Pixelsnap magnetic technology opens up new accessory possibilities, and camera improvements (albeit with reservations) are pleasing. Prices remain at last year’s level, which is positive in a time of rising costs. Czech prices and availability The new Google Pixel 10 phone series will also be available on the Czech market, at e-shops such as Alza, Datart, O2, Vodafone, T-Mobile, and Mobil Pohotovost. Prices start at 22,990 CZK for the base Pixel 10 model. The Pixel 10 Pro is available from 27,990 CZK, and the top model Pixel 10 Pro XL can be purchased for a price starting at 32,990 CZK.
