The new product offers a 6Mpx sensor with a resolution of 3200 × 1800 pixels, dual Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, and advanced detection of people and pets. The camera appeared on the manufacturer’s global website, indicating an imminent launch on world markets. 3.5K Resolution and Large Sensor for Detailed Image The Smart Camera C500 is Xiaomi’s first indoor camera with 6Mpx resolution. It features an image sensor with a size of 1/2.45 inches with BSI (Back-Side Illumination) technology for better light sensitivity. The lens with an aperture of f/1.6 contains six optical elements and uses WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) technology to capture details in high-contrast scenes. The large sensor allows the camera to capture a color image even in minimal lighting. For complete darkness, eight infrared LED diodes operating at a wavelength of 940 nm are available, which do not emit visible red light and thus do not disturb during night monitoring. AI Chip with 1 TOPS Performance for Local Processing The camera includes a dedicated AI chip with a computational power of 1 TOPS (1 trillion operations per second). This ensures local human detection without the need to send data to a server, which shortens reaction time and reduces the number of false alarms. In addition to recognizing people, the Smart Camera C500 also handles detection and tracking of pets – specifically dogs and cats. After detecting the movement of a person or animal, the camera automatically starts tracking the object and sends a notification to the mobile application. Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 and Advanced Security For stable video transmission, the camera uses Wi-Fi 6 with support for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Thanks to OFDMA technology, it achieves 60% higher transmission speeds compared to Wi-Fi 4, according to Xiaomi. Security is ensured by the MJA1 chipset with a unique key and certificate for each device. Data transmitted to the cloud undergoes multiple encryptions. For maximum privacy, the camera offers physical lens cover – the lens retracts into the camera body, mechanically blocking recording. Pan-Tilt Design Covers the Entire Room Thanks to two motors for horizontal and vertical movement, the camera can scan an area with a range of 360° horizontally and 116° vertically. The direction of capture is controlled directly from the Xiaomi Home application on a smartphone. The Smart Camera C500 supports H.265 encoding to save space during recording. Video can be stored on microSD cards with a capacity of 8 to 256 GB, in cloud storage, or on network NAS servers. The camera works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice assistants for displaying images on smart displays. Price and Availability Xiaomi has not yet announced the price or specific availability date for individual markets. However, given its appearance on the global website, an early launch of sales in Europe, including the Czech Republic, can be expected. Do you have any experience with Xiaomi cameras?
