The Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro won't be for everyone. Who will appreciate it the most?

We informed you about the upcoming Galaxy S27 Pro model back in early April, when there was talk of expanding the flagship series to four devices. Back then, it was more about outlines, but now, within a few days, more specific details have arrived. South Korean server ETNews and other sources revealed the display size and details about the camera setup, allowing us to finally imagine how the Pro will differ from the base models, as well as from the Ultra. And for anyone who desires the features of the top-tier model in a smaller body, this could be a great phone.

Display size between the base and Plus models

According to ETNews, the Galaxy S27 Pro should get a 6.47″ OLED panel. This value is particularly interesting because of where it places the phone: dimensionally, it will fit between the standard Galaxy S27 and the larger Galaxy S27+. The Pro will therefore be slightly larger than the base model, but still fall into the category of more compact flagships, where Samsung currently lacks a reasonable answer to models from Apple and Google.

Cameras almost like the Ultra, but with one catch

The cameras will reveal the most. According to leaks, the Galaxy S27 Pro is expected to adopt the main and ultrawide sensors directly from the Galaxy S27 Ultra model, which is rumored to feature entirely new sensors. Only the telephoto lens is expected to differ, and therein lies the proverbial obstacle.

Older speculations attributed a 200Mpx main sensor, a 50Mpx ultrawide lens, and a 50Mpx periscopic telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom to the Pro model. However, a newer leak complicates this somewhat: it claims that the Pro’s telephoto lens will differ from the one in the Ultra. Given the phone’s smaller dimensions, it suggests that the Pro will get a smaller, and thus weaker, telephoto lens.

An interesting side note is that the Galaxy S27 Ultra itself is rumored to offer only three rear cameras, meaning one less telephoto lens. However, Xiaomi 17 Ultra also took a similar step, which ultimately proved to be a brilliant move (although I personally don’t think Samsung would experiment with a lens system similar to its Chinese competitor).

Samsung must be cautious

At the same time, Samsung must be careful that the Pro isn’t just a slightly stripped-down Ultra. A four-model strategy only makes sense when the individual phones are clearly differentiated; otherwise, Samsung risks competing with itself. Last year’s experiment with the thin Galaxy S25 Edge also showed that a fourth model can easily end up being a flop. However, the Pro could fare better because it doesn’t rely on an unusual format, but on making premium features accessible to a wider audience.
