If you commute only part of the way by scooter and the rest by tram or train, weight and folding play a bigger role than a large battery. The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 6 Essential weighs 16.3 kg, folds in three steps, and the manufacturer directly anticipates a combination of riding and public transport. You can get it on Alza with code ALZADNY15 for 7,649 CZK, which is 1,350 CZK less than the public price of 8,999 CZK.

The equipment corresponds to an urban model: a motor with a rated power of 300 W and a peak of 500 W, speed up to 25 km/h, and climbing up to 15%. The scooter is in stock at Alza, with more than five units available.

Quick summary:
✅ Makes sense for: shorter urban routes when you need to fold and carry the scooter. It weighs 16.3 kg, and according to the manufacturer, the 10-inch pneumatic wheels are better at handling cobblestones, gravel, and speed bumps.
⚠️ Consider: the load capacity is 100 kg, and it can handle inclines up to 15%. A heavier rider or a very hilly route are outside the stated limits.
💡 Full charging takes approximately 8 hours, so count on overnight charging rather than a quick top-up between two trips.

It only travels a full 25 km at 15 km/h

The range of 25 km applies, according to the manufacturer, to the standard mode with a speed of up to 15 km/h. In sport mode, with a maximum of 25 km/h, Xiaomi states approximately 20 km. When riding at full speed, a round trip comes out to roughly ten kilometers each way. The result is affected by rider weight, terrain, temperature, and the number of starts.

There are three modes. Pedestrian mode limits the speed to 6 km/h, standard to 15 km/h, and sport mode allows the scooter to reach up to 25 km/h. The battery has a capacity of approximately 216 Wh (10 Ah) and is monitored by a BMS system, which protects it against overcharging, overheating, and short circuits, among other things.

Pneumatic wheels instead of solid ones and a steel frame

Both wheels have a diameter of 10 inches and pneumatic tires. According to the manufacturer’s description, the larger diameter reduces the shocks that smaller wheels transmit on cobblestones and bumps. The frame is made of high-strength carbon structural steel, and the scooter measures 114.5 cm in length.

The brushless motor with a Hall sensor has a nominal power of 300 W and a short-term peak of up to 500 W. The manufacturer does not promise climbs above 15%, so anyone riding over a steep hill should check the incline of their route beforehand.

Drum brake, flashing brake light, and IPX4 rating

The front wheel is braked by a drum brake, complemented by an electronic E-ABS system at the rear. The front light has a power of 2.2 W and, according to the manufacturer, illuminates up to 15 meters, while the rear light flashes during braking. The scooter has an IPX4 rating, and the battery itself is IPX6.

Lock the motor and set regeneration in the app

After pairing with the Xiaomi Home app, you can see the remaining range, battery status, active mode, and ride history on your phone. The app can lock the motor and adjust energy recuperation, which the scooter returns to the battery when slowing down.

Who it’s enough for

Xiaomi classifies the scooter as an urban model for adults and recommends it for riders aged 16 and over, up to 100 kg. It makes sense for someone who rides up to 20 km daily and occasionally carries the scooter up stairs or takes it on public transport. For longer routes at full speed, the battery is small.7

Do you combine the scooter with public transport, or do you ride the whole way with it?
