The Xiaomi SU7 electric car is heading to Europe! We have an idea when it will start selling in the Czech Republic

  • Xiaomi has its largest standalone exhibition outside China at this year's IFA in Berlin — over 3,300 square meters and 380 products
  • Xiaomi Auto's entry into the European market is confirmed for 2027, with Germany being the first market
  • According to unconfirmed information from the trade fair, the Czech Republic will be next in the second wave, realistically more likely at the beginning of 2028

We are in Berlin at the IFA trade fair, and Xiaomi is not standing in a corner among partners this year, but has its own hall covering more than 3,300 square meters. It is the largest standalone exhibition the Chinese company has ever built outside its home market. It accommodates 380 products, a humanoid robot, and three cars. And it was with the cars that we learned the most interesting information.

Germany first, others later

It was officially stated clearly at the stand: Xiaomi Auto will enter the European market in 2027, and the first target is Germany. This was also confirmed by Xu Fei, Xiaomi’s Marketing Director, when she spoke about how all three parts of the ecosystem, which the company calls “Human × Car × Home,” will finally connect in Europe.

The choice of Germany surprises no one. It is the largest automotive market in Europe, Xiaomi has a strong presence there with phones and Mijia products, and a service network can be built on existing partners. Furthermore, the company has experience — since the delivery of its first vehicle in March 2024, it has handed over over 655,000 vehicles to customers in mainland China, which is not a small number for a two-year newcomer in the industry.

So when will it arrive here?

According to information we heard at the trade fair, the Czech Republic is expected only in the second wave of expansion. An optimistic scenario speaks of the fourth quarter of 2027, but a more realistic estimate shifts to the first quarter of 2028. We emphasize that this is unofficial information that Xiaomi has not confirmed in any way and is not mentioned in press materials.

However, it makes sense. Selling an electric car is not the same as stocking phones in Alza — it requires homologation, authorized service, spare parts supplies, and people who can handle all of that. In a market the size of the Czech Republic, such an investment returns more slowly, so waiting was to be expected. The question is rather whether the situation regarding European tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles will be clarified by then, which could rewrite the entire plan.

Cars as an attraction, the rest as a showcase

The stand features the new generation SU7 sedan, the high-performance SU7 Ultra variant with a record in the “Electric Executive Car” category on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, and the virtual Vision Gran Turismo concept, which you can only experience on a console. Alongside them, Xiaomi showcases the foldable Xiaomi 18 Fold with its own XRING O3 chip and the humanoid robot CyberOne, which responds to visitors with gestures — a thumbs-up or a heart made with fingers.

All of this is meant to show one thing: that Xiaomi is no longer just a phone manufacturer. It intends to invest over 24 billion euros in research and development between 2026 and 2030, and the Mijia brand, with over 2,000 products, is set to significantly expand in Europe. However, cars are the only thing among all of this that you won’t easily get your hands on here.

Would you wait for an electric car from Xiaomi, or is 2028 too far away for you?
