Xiaomi is finalizing preparations for its new flagship system version. HyperOS 3, based on Android 16, is expected to arrive in September 2025, and as is customary for the manufacturer, the first batch of updates will only go to selected flagship models. According to available information, the first wave will be limited to just 10 devices, while owners of the remaining dozens of compatible phones will have to wait longer.

Elite Club of the First Ten

Xiaomi has not yet officially confirmed the release schedule, but according to several reliable sources, including the XiaomiTime website, the first batch of updates will only affect the top models of the current lineup. Beta version tests are already running on selected devices, and the final version should be in preparation. Owners of the following models can look forward to the initial wave of updates:

  • Xiaomi 15
  • Xiaomi 15 Pro
  • Xiaomi 15 Ultra
  • Xiaomi 15T Pro
  • Xiaomi 14T Pro
  • Redmi K80 Ultra
  • Redmi K70 Ultra
  • Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro
  • Xiaomi MIX Flip

In addition to these models, Xiaomi 16 and 16 Pro (Max) are also being prepared, which will include HyperOS 3 right out of the box. Their unveiling is expected in October or November 2025, depending on how quickly the development of the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset can be completed.

Mid-Range Will Wait Until Christmas

For owners of mid-range and lower-end phones, the news is not very encouraging. If you own models like Redmi Note 14, Redmi Note 13, or POCO F7, you might not receive the update until late 2025 or even early 2026. Overall, according to sources, between 65 and 75 models across Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO brands should receive the update.

Interestingly, it is not yet expected that older flagship models like Xiaomi 14 or Xiaomi 13 will receive the update earlier than the mid-range. Xiaomi evidently prioritizes its latest products, which may be an unpleasant surprise for customers with last year’s flagship phones.

What’s New in HyperOS 3?

Although Xiaomi has not yet officially revealed the complete list of new features, current information leaks and ongoing tests suggest that there is much to look forward to. HyperOS 3 is expected to bring significant visual changes and new functionalities.

Among the most interesting upcoming new features are:

  • Dynamic Island – an interactive notification element inspired by Apple’s solution, designed to display live updates from apps such as food delivery, taxi orders, or music playback
  • Enhanced AI features – artificial intelligence will be integrated even deeper into the system, from photo editing to interface personalization and adaptive learning of user habits
  • Notification Cooldown – the system will automatically mute and minimize notifications when multiple notifications arrive in quick succession from a single application
  • Desktop Windowing – especially for tablets and devices with larger displays, a feature similar to a desktop environment will be added, allowing users to open, group, and resize multiple application windows simultaneously
  • Android Protection – a set of security features designed to protect users from malicious applications, dangerous websites, fraudulent calls, and other online threats

Performance optimizations, smoother animations, and improved system stability are also expected. Last but not least, new widgets and further customization options will be available.

HyperOS 2.2 Will Help the Impatient

For those who don’t want to wait for the full update, the good news is that some new features from HyperOS 3 will appear in the HyperOS 2.2 update, which should be available during August 2025. While it will only be a limited selection of new features, it can still be an interesting appetizer before the main course.

Are you looking forward to HyperOS 3?
