Xiaomi has officially announced which phones will no longer receive the Android 16 update, and will instead end with Android 15, although even that will get an update to HyperOS 3. This decision concludes the update cycle for a total of 31 devices, including several flagship models and popular mid-range devices. Owners of phones like Xiaomi 12, POCO F5, or Redmi Note 12 will thus have to make do with the current system.

POCO Models Ending with Android 15

From the POCO family, which has gained popularity among fans due to its good price-to-performance ratio, these phones will reach the end of their updates:

  • POCO C65
  • POCO F5 5G
  • POCO F5 Pro
  • POCO M6 Pro
  • POCO X6 Neo

Especially in the case of last year’s F5 and F5 Pro models, this is an unpleasant discovery for owners who purchased the phones expecting longer support. For the premium F5 Pro model, major updates end after just two years, which is a below-average value nowadays.

List of Redmi Phones Without Android 16

Even longer is the list of Redmi phones that will end up on HyperOS 3 without the possibility of upgrading to Android 16:

Basic Series:

  • Redmi 12
  • Redmi 12 5G
  • Redmi 13C
  • Redmi 13C 5G
  • Redmi 13R

Redmi K Series:

  • Redmi K50 Ultra
  • Redmi K60

A surprisingly large number of phones from the Redmi Note 12 and 13 series are also ending their update journey:

  • Redmi Note 12 4G
  • Redmi Note 12 NFC 4G
  • Redmi Note 12R
  • Redmi Note 12S
  • Redmi Note 12T Pro
  • Redmi Note 12 Turbo
  • Redmi Note 13 4G
  • Redmi Note 13 4G NFC
  • Redmi Note 13 5G
  • Redmi Note 13R Pro

End of Updates for Xiaomi Flagships

The most painful is the list of flagship models that will no longer receive Android 16. Primarily, the entire Xiaomi 12 series is ending without the possibility of upgrading to the new system:

  • Xiaomi 12
  • Xiaomi 12 Pro
  • Xiaomi 12S
  • Xiaomi 12S Pro
  • Xiaomi 12S Ultra
  • Xiaomi 12T
  • Xiaomi 12T Pro
  • Xiaomi Civi 3
  • Xiaomi MIX FOLD 2

Particularly surprising is the exclusion of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra and 12T Pro models, which were among the most feature-rich flagship phones of their year. Brand fans on social media are already expressing disappointment that even premium models do not receive longer-term support, such as that offered by Samsung or Google.

What Will HyperOS 3 Bring?

HyperOS 3 will be an important update set to bring significant changes to the user interface and features. According to leaks, the new version will be inspired by liquid glass in iOS 26, featuring a smoother design and better global competitiveness. New icons are expected, resembling those from iOS 26 – more uniform and subtly rounded.

Among the main novelties will be a dynamic notification system, which will allow information to be displayed directly on the lock screen or in other system elements without the user having to open applications. Xiaomi also promises its own security layers, designed to protect user data at the hardware level and offer transparent management of application permissions.

In the multimedia area, there will be a significant shift with better sound quality and support for the latest audio codecs. Xiaomi also promises the arrival of Auracast technology, which will enable wireless audio sharing to multiple headphones simultaneously. The update will also include new photographic features, including hybrid automatic exposure for better low-light shots and an improved night mode.

When Will HyperOS 3 Arrive?

The exact release date for HyperOS 3 has not yet been officially announced, but according to available information, the first phones could receive the update as early as August 2025. Gradual rollout to other compatible models will then proceed over the following months.

Fortunately for owners of older phones, HyperOS 3 will not mean the end of all support. Even the excluded models will continue to receive security updates and potential bug fixes, they just won’t receive the latest features and enhancements associated with Android 16.

What are your thoughts on the ending support for these phones?
