Large televisions are often synonymous with high prices, but sometimes an opportunity arises that is worth noting. Mini LED with advanced image processing

LG has opted for Mini LED technology in the QNED93 series, which offers more precise local dimming compared to conventional LED backlighting. In practice, this means better contrast and deeper blacks, although still not at the level of OLED panels. The panel features 4K resolution (3840 × 2160 pixels) and a native 120Hz refresh rate, which increases to 144 Hz in gaming mode.

Image processing is handled by the alpha 8 AI Gen2 processor, which automatically recognizes content type and adjusts settings accordingly. It includes AI Super Upscaling for enhancing lower-resolution content and Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro. The TV supports HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision IQ formats.

Gaming features and connectivity

For gamers, support for VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), NVIDIA G-SYNC, and AMD FreeSync Premium is important. All four HDMI 2.1 ports can transmit a 4K signal at 120 Hz, with one supporting eARC for connecting to a soundbar.

In terms of audio, the TV relies on a 2.2 channel system with 40 W output and Dolby Atmos support. This is sufficient for casual viewing, but with such a large screen, most users will opt for external audio anyway.

The TV runs on WebOS 25 with access to common streaming services, including Oneplay. LG guarantees four major operating system updates over five years, which is above standard in the TV category. The package includes a Magic Remote with motion control and voice commands.

Conversely, if you prefer perfect black and primarily watch in a darkened room, OLED will be a better choice. And if you don’t need an 85″ diagonal, you can find smaller OLED models with better contrast for a similar price.
