This ASUS with 16 GB RAM and a fingerprint reader costs 12,490 CZK with the code. It has a 10-core processor and USB-C charging

16 GB RAM, 512GB SSD, and a weight of 1.4 kg for 12,490 CZK. That’s the price of the ASUS Vivobook 14 X1404VA in Quiet Blue after entering code ALZADNY35. Without the code and without membership, Alza sells it for 19,215 CZK.

The catch is directly in the variant’s designation: the laptop comes without a power adapter. However, it charges via USB-C, so anyone who already has a sufficiently powerful charger with USB Power Delivery doesn’t need to buy another power source.

Quick summary:
✅ Makes sense for: students and office workers who want a lightweight fourteen-inch laptop with 16 GB RAM, fingerprint login, and a numeric keypad in the touchpad.
⚠️ Consider: you must have your own adapter or buy one, and the display only has 250 nits and 45% NTSC coverage, so it’s not designed for outdoor work or photo editing.
💡 During the Alza Days in September, specifically on September 7, 2026, the same model with the same code cost 12,990 CZK. Today, with the code, it costs 12,490 CZK.

You’ll need to provide your own charger, but a USB-C with 33 W output is sufficient

Alza explicitly states for this variant that the adapter is not included in the package and must be purchased separately. The laptop accepts power via USB-C with USB PD support in the range of 33 to 48 W. A more powerful phone or tablet charger can also serve, provided it supports USB PD and delivers at least the mentioned 33 W. For the full charging input of 48 W, a correspondingly strong power source is needed. The battery has a capacity of 42 Wh across three cells.

Ten cores and 16 GB DDR5, but expandability is limited

Inside, a ten-core Intel Core 5 120U from the Raptor Lake generation operates with a clock speed of up to 5 GHz and integrated Intel graphics. The memory is DDR5 at 4,800 MHz, the SSD uses an M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 interface, and Windows 11 Home is pre-installed.

This is a reasonable setup for a browser with many open tabs, office programs, and video calls. However, playing more demanding games or video editing will be significantly limited by the integrated graphics.

Upgrades have clear limits. The laptop has only one memory slot, and it is occupied, as is the single M.2 slot. You cannot add a second RAM module or a second drive; only replacing the existing module or SSD with a larger one is possible.

Fingerprint Reader, NumberPad, and Camera Shutter

You can log into Windows by placing your finger on the fingerprint sensor via Windows Hello. The ASUS NumberPad illuminates a numeric keypad in the touchpad, which is useful when transcribing numbers into spreadsheets. The keyboard with Czech and Slovak descriptions is backlit.

The webcam has 720p resolution and a physical shutter. The hinges open up to 180 degrees, allowing you to lay the display flat when you need to show something to people sitting opposite. The construction is plastic, measures 18 mm at its thickest point, and the laptop has MIL-STD-810H durability certification.

Available ports include two USB-C, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, one slower USB 2.0, HDMI for an external monitor, and a combined audio jack. Wireless connectivity is via Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4.

The display is for indoor use, not for sunlight

The fourteen-inch IPS panel has a resolution of 1,920 × 1,080 pixels, a 16:9 aspect ratio, and an anti-glare surface. Its weaknesses are a brightness of 250 nits and only 45% NTSC color space coverage.

For typing, spreadsheets, and watching videos indoors, such a display will suffice. However, anyone who works by a window with the sun at their back or edits photos where color accuracy is important will encounter its limitations.

Who will benefit from it for 12,490 CZK

The Vivobook 14 for 12,490 CZK with the code is suitable mainly for students and office use, where 16 GB of memory, low weight, and practical features like a fingerprint reader are key. The purchase includes one year of free damage protection, but it is valid only after registration. Alza has more than five units of the laptop in stock.

Do you have a USB-C charger at home that you would use with the laptop, or would you buy an adapter?
