This is what Vision Pro's competition should look like! Samsung Galaxy XR hit by a massive leak, this is all we know Home News Samsung Galaxy XR headset leaked in a large number of official materials The headset will offer a 4K micro-OLED display with 29 million pixels and a Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor The official unveiling is expected in October at an estimated price starting from 1,800 dollars Sdílejte: Adam Kurfürst Published: 10. 10. 2025 04:30 Advertisement Samsung first showcased its XR headset, known under the codename Project Moohan, earlier this year. At the time, the manufacturer limited itself to a minimum of demonstrations without a higher number of specific details. However, a huge amount of official materials has now been released to the public, revealing the complete design, specifications, and the One UI XR interface. Thanks to the editorial team of Android Headlines, we know almost all the details even before the official launch. Top-tier display surpasses Apple Vision Pro Today we know that the headset will be sold under the name Samsung Galaxy XR. According to a fresh leak, it will feature a 4K micro-OLED display with a total resolution of 29 million pixels across two display units. This represents a PPI value of 4,032, significantly surpassing the competing Apple Vision Pro with 23 million pixels. Each eye will thus have a resolution of up to 4.3K, ensuring a sharp image without visible pixels. The heart of the headset will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor, which Samsung has fine-tuned in collaboration with Qualcomm and Google. The chipset will offer 15% higher GPU performance and 20% higher CPU clock speeds compared to the standard version. The processor will be capable of processing spatial audio, gestures, AI functions, and all real-time motion tracking. Advanced motion tracking and sensors The headset will be equipped with six cameras on the front for environmental tracking. In the corners, we will find four hand-tracking sensors that can recognize gestures and finger movements. There is also a depth sensor located at the top, which helps the headset map the space including walls, floor, and ceiling. For eye tracking, Samsung has integrated four infrared cameras with LED diodes, which use AI technology to precisely detect eye movements, including pupil position. Microphones capture sound from all directions and can separate individual voices for more accurate command recognition. Ergonomic design with a weight of 545 grams The Samsung Galaxy XR weighs 545 grams, which is slightly less than the competing Apple Vision Pro (the manufacturer states 600-650 grams) but slightly more than the Meta Quest 3 (515 grams). The headset features soft padding around the lenses and an adjustable strap with a rotary dial for precise tightening. Side straps provide additional stability during wear. On the right side, we find a touch panel – a long press centers the content, a double tap switches between VR mode and passthrough mode. In the upper part, there are two physical buttons: volume control and a main button to launch the app launcher. A long press of the main button activates Google Gemini. One UI XR and integration of popular applications The headset’s software runs on the Android XR platform with Samsung’s One UI XR overlay. The user interface displays applications in a spatial launcher with icons of popular services such as YouTube, Google Maps, Chrome, Netflix, or Samsung Gallery and Internet. In the upper part of the interface, we find quick toggles and access to settings. The headset will come with two wireless controllers with 6DoF tracking, analog sticks, and haptic feedback. Samsung has also integrated spatial audio using two-way speakers with a woofer and tweeter on each side. Battery life and connectivity The headset’s battery lasts for up to 2.5 hours of video playback or 2 hours of general use. On the left side, there is a connector for an external battery, which can extend the battery life. The headset also includes ventilation holes at the bottom and removable light seals for better immersion in virtual reality. The Samsung Galaxy XR is expected to be officially unveiled in October 2025, with some sources specifying October 21st or 22nd. Pre-registrations should begin as early as October 15th. The price is estimated to be at least 1,800 dollars (about 38,000 CZK).
