Let’s be honest: you can’t expect miracles from a soundbar costing 1,600 crowns. The LG SQM1 is a basic 2.0 system without a subwoofer, without HDMI ARC, and without advanced features. Nevertheless, it has its place – if you have a small living room and are bothered by the tinny sound from your TV, this is the cheapest way to a reasonable upgrade.

Sufficient for small rooms

Customers agree on one thing: the SQM1 is fine for a small room, but not for a larger space. “I use it with a 77″ LG OLED TV in a smaller living room, and it sounds much better than the TV,” writes one reviewer, adding that the sound is comparable to soundbars from higher price categories. Another customer briefly summarizes: “For a small room, OK.”

40 W power and a 2.0 configuration without a dedicated subwoofer mean you shouldn’t expect deep bass. However, one reviewer surprisingly notes: “It even brings out bass, which I would rather expect from a subwoofer.” It depends on expectations – compared to the thin speakers in modern TVs, it’s a noticeable improvement, but certainly not compared to five-thousand-crown soundbars with a wireless sub.

Optical cable is a must

This is the most important advice from reviews: connect the soundbar with an optical cable, not via Bluetooth. “I recommend connecting via an optical audio cable. Bluetooth connection is weak. A significant difference,” one customer points out. Another confirms: “Sound quality via Bluetooth is significantly lower than when connected with an optical cable.”

The soundbar does not have HDMI ARC, which is common for basic models. However, the optical input works reliably, and when connected to an LG TV, the soundbar automatically turns on and off with the TV. You can control the volume with your TV’s remote control; you don’t need to pull out a separate remote for the soundbar.

What to watch out for

One reviewer warns: “I recommend buying a higher model right away. The 700 series does not include advertised features like room sound adaptation.” If you expect advanced features, you will be disappointed. The SQM1 is truly a basic model – stereo sound, Dolby Digital, and that’s it.

Another customer points out occasional synchronization issues: “On some channels, the sound from the soundbar is shifted compared to that from the TV speakers.” The solution is to turn off the sound directly on the TV and let only the soundbar play.

The original price was 2,290 CZK, and now with code ALZADNY30, it costs 1,603 CZK. The rating of 4.2 out of 5 from 25 customers reflects reality – 84% of people are satisfied, but three customers gave one star. For 1,600 crowns, you get a reasonable upgrade for a small living room, nothing more and nothing less. If you have a larger space or higher demands, look for models with a wireless subwoofer.

Do you use a soundbar with your TV, or are the built-in speakers sufficient for you?
