Chinese Nubia has officially unveiled a new generation of gaming phones, the RedMagic 11 Pro and RedMagic 11 Pro+. The biggest surprise is the deployment of water cooling technology – we are witnessing this for the very first time in the field of smartphones commonly available to consumers. Both models simultaneously offer top-tier performance thanks to the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and huge batteries with capacities up to 8,000 mAh.

Water Cooling as the Main Attraction

The RedMagic 11 Pro and 11 Pro+ share most key specifications but differ in their cooling systems. While the base Pro model relies on an active fan with a vapor chamber, the more expensive Pro+ variant additionally features a pulsating water pump.

This is the very first mass-produced smartphone with a liquid cooling system, designed to ensure even more efficient heat dissipation during demanding games. Although for the vast majority of users, this will be a relatively unnecessary feature, which they can easily do without and will not be significantly limited when using the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, it is fascinating to see truly interesting progress in smartphone hardware after a long time.

Top-tier Performance

Both models are powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, complemented by Nubia’s proprietary R4 gaming chip. Up to 24 GB LPDDR5T RAM and 1 TB UFS 4.1 Pro storage are available. This combination ensures maximum performance not only when playing games but also when working with truly demanding applications.

The phones run on RedMagic OS 11 with a range of AI features optimized for gaming. Support for Wi-Fi 7, NFC, an infrared port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack are also present. The overall construction has a thickness of 8.9 mm and a weight of 230 grams.

Both phones also received a new Synaptics touch chip, which enables a touch sampling rate of up to 3,000 Hz and multi-touch sampling at 360 Hz. There are also 520Hz shoulder triggers on the sides of the phone for even more precise game control.

Display Without Compromises

At the heart of both models is a 6.85″ BOE X10 AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate. The panel boasts a screen-to-body ratio of 95.3% and ultra-thin bezels measuring just 1.25 mm wide. Nubia has once again opted for an under-display front camera, ensuring the screen is not disrupted by a notch or punch-hole.

An under-display 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is also hidden beneath the screen, promising reliable operation even with wet or dirty fingers.

Huge Batteries with Fast Charging

The RedMagic 11 Pro gets a massive 8,000mAh battery with support for 80W wired charging. The Pro+ variant has a slightly smaller 7,500mAh cell but offers faster 120W wired and 80W wireless charging.

On the rear, we find a pair of 50Mpx cameras – a main and an ultrawide. Although the phones can be considered flagships, you won’t find a telephoto lens in their setup. On the other hand, given the type of users they target, this is not too surprising. Most avid gamers will be satisfied with just the primary camera and digital crops from it.

For selfies and video calls, there’s a 16Mpx under-display camera. The phones have received IPX8 certification for water resistance.

Price and Availability

In China, the price of the RedMagic 11 Pro starts at 4,999 yuan (approx. 14,600 CZK without tax) for the 12/256 GB version. The Pro+ model starts at 5,699 yuan (16,700 CZK) for the base configuration. Transparent variants with RGB LED backlighting are also available, costing up to 7,699 yuan (approx. 22,500 CZK) for the highest version with 24 GB RAM and 1 TB storage.

The RedMagic brand has confirmed that the RedMagic 11 Pro will also come to Europe. It will arrive at the beginning of next month. While its website did not specify whether the Pro+ model would also be launched in these markets, it can be assumed that it will, as water cooling is explicitly mentioned.
