Most outdoor cameras require a stable Wi-Fi connection to operate, which is often not available at a cottage, farm, or garage. However, the TP-Link Tapo TC40GW connects via 4G LTE, and with an AlzaPlus+ membership, you can buy it for 2,197 CZK. None of the domestic retailers have a better offer; it originally cost almost 3,000 CZK.

Quick summary:
Makes sense if you need to monitor a location without Wi-Fi and you have/don’t mind subscribing to AlzaPlus+.
⚠️ Consider that neither the SIM card nor data are included in the price, and 4G operation consumes mobile data.
💡 With AlzaPlus+ for 2,197 CZK, this is the lowest price on the Czech market; you won’t find it cheaper elsewhere right now.

Main draw: monitors even where there’s no Wi-Fi

The biggest advantage of this camera is its 4G LTE connectivity. This allows you to install it in places where standard Wi-Fi cameras fail – at a cottage, in a garage, on a farm, or in a warehouse. Just purchase a 4G SIM card with a data plan, and the camera is online. If you have Ethernet available, you can also use PoE for power and connection, so the TC40GW operates in two modes depending on what’s available at the location.

However, keep in mind that 4G operation consumes mobile data – the manufacturer states that one hour of live streaming in 1080p corresponds to approximately 594 MB. For regular monitoring with event detection, this is not an issue, but it’s good to consider a suitable data plan so you’re not surprised by the consumption.

What the camera can do

The camera is pan and tilt capable, covering 360° horizontally and 130° vertically, leaving no blind spots. It captures images in 1080p Full HD, and in the dark, color night vision with a Starlight sensor helps (with IR illumination up to 30 m). Useful features include free AI detection of people, vehicles, and animals, which sends notifications to the Tapo app only when something truly happens, thus reducing false alarms.

For outdoor deployment, IP66 resistance against rain and dust and an operating range of −30 to 60 °C are crucial. It also features an audible and visual alarm to deter unwanted guests, two-way audio, and the option to store recordings on a microSD card up to 512 GB or in Tapo Care cloud. The camera also works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

The price of 2,197 CZK applies with AlzaPlus+: what it entails

You get the price of 2,197 CZK as a member of the AlzaPlus+ program. This is a paid Alza subscription for 299 CZK annually (i.e., 25 CZK per month), or 59 CZK for monthly payment, which can be canceled anytime for free. In addition to discounts on selected goods, it primarily includes free delivery to over 25,000 pick-up points with no minimum order value. Additionally, Alza now offers a three-month trial for 1 CZK, after which the membership automatically renews to an annual one (and can be canceled).

What’s important about this offer: the price of 2,197 CZK with AlzaPlus+ is currently the lowest on the Czech market. The cheapest regular offer across domestic e-shops in comparison sites is around 2,246 CZK, so you won’t find the TC40GW cheaper at any other Czech retailer right now. According to Alza, membership pays off from the fifth purchase, and the average annual saving is around 1,500 CZK.

When it doesn’t make sense

If you have stable Wi-Fi at the location, the 4G advantage disappears, and a cheaper Wi-Fi camera will suffice. If you want maximum detail, you’ll appreciate models with 2K or higher resolution more – the TC40GW remains at 1080p. And factor in the operating costs for the SIM and data, which you don’t have to worry about with Wi-Fi cameras. Furthermore, this specific price is not valid without an AlzaPlus+ membership.

Verdict: who it’s worth it for

For monitoring remote locations without Wi-Fi – a cottage, garage, plot of land, or construction site – the TC40GW is a clear choice, and with AlzaPlus+ for 2,197 CZK, it’s currently the best price on the market. You get a PTZ camera with free AI detection, night vision, and IP66 resistance. Just keep in mind the 1080p resolution and the need to purchase a SIM card with a data plan.

Would you monitor a cottage or garage with a 4G camera, or would you prefer classic Wi-Fi?
