It has long been a custom for Xiaomi to first introduce the key models of its Redmi sub-brand in its home country of China and only then release them to the global market. The same happens with some other Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco models. However, the features of domestic and global models are not always the same. This will likely be the case (again) with the new Redmi Note 15 Pro+ for global markets. This is confirmed by initial information that has leaked from Xiaomi’s software.

Again without optical zoom?

The best-equipped model from the newly introduced Redmi Note 15 smartphone series did not bring much new in terms of photographic equipment. The primary camera still uses a 50MP sensor with a size of 1/1.55″ along with optics with a decent aperture of f/1.6. The ultrawide-angle camera still only has an 8MP sensor, but with a wider 120° field of view. The camera with 2.5x zoom and a 50MP sensor then received a slightly better aperture of f/2.0. And it seems that not much will change for us either. The global Redmi Note 15 Pro+ is still expected to offer a better, 200MP primary camera along with an identical 8MP ultrawide-angle camera, but this time, we will likely not see a camera with optical zoom in the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ series.

According to leaked information, we reportedly should not expect a 2MP macro camera either. However, given the design of the Chinese version’s back, that would be quite strange. Does this mean that “our” Redmi Note 15 Pro+ will look fundamentally different from the Chinese one? We don’t know yet. What sounds quite credible, however, is the information about a smaller battery, which should still have a solid capacity of 6,500 mAh. The manufacturer will then compensate for those 500 mAh with at least slightly faster charging – instead of 90W, it is expected to charge at a full 100W.
