The Xiaomi Router AX1500 EU, a basic WiFi 6 router from the Chinese company’s lineup, has appeared in several e-shops for 499 CZK. This is a significant drop from the recommended price of 890 CZK. It’s an entry-level model that won’t impress with top-tier performance, but for regular home use, it offers decent value.

What you get for five hundred crowns

The Xiaomi Router AX1500 EU supports WiFi 6 (802.11ax) and operates in both bands – 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The theoretical maximum speed reaches 1201 Mb/s on 5 GHz and 300 Mb/s on 2.4 GHz, which together gives a marketing figure of 1501 Mb/s with simultaneous operation of both bands.

In practice, this means that if you have an internet connection up to 500 Mb/s and typical needs (streaming, web browsing, video calls), the router should not disappoint you. For more demanding scenarios – large households with dozens of devices or network storage with high stability requirements – the AX1500 is already weaker.

The router has four gigabit Ethernet ports that automatically adapt as WAN or LAN depending on where you connect the cable. So you don’t have to worry about which port is correct – you just plug it in and it works. Inside, four internal antennas are at work.

Mesh network and other features

The AX1500 supports Xiaomi Mesh network, meaning you can connect multiple routers of this brand to create seamless coverage throughout your home. The router reportedly can connect up to 10 Mesh devices, but practical usability depends on the specific environment and models of other routers.

Other features include OFDMA – a technology enabling more efficient data transmission to multiple devices simultaneously. In practice, this means less delay when you have multiple phones, tablets, or smart appliances. The router also supports IPTV, so you can connect it to a TV set-top box.

An interesting feature is exclusive acceleration for Xiaomi and Redmi phones. If you have a phone with HyperOS and play games, the router can prioritize gaming traffic and reduce latency. However, you must enable the feature in the Game Turbo app – it’s not automatic.

Who is the AX1500 suitable for?

The router is suitable for smaller households or apartments where you have an internet connection up to 300–500 Mb/s and don’t need top-tier performance. If you primarily use the internet for streaming, video calls, web browsing, and general work, the AX1500 will suffice.

Conversely, if you have a gigabit connection, dozens of devices on the network, a home server, or need stable performance for 4K streaming on multiple TVs simultaneously, you should look for more powerful models. The AX1500 is an entry-level router, and its capabilities are limited.

Installation and control

Router setup is done via the Xiaomi Home mobile app. The app guides you through the basic setup step-by-step, so you should be able to manage it even without technical knowledge. If you prefer a web interface, it is also available.

The app allows basic management – changing network name, password, checking connected devices, setting parental controls, or prioritizing specific devices. Advanced features like port forwarding or VLAN can be found in the web interface.

Is it worth it for 499 CZK?

For five hundred crowns, the Xiaomi Router AX1500 EU is a solid purchase for less demanding users. If you have a smaller apartment, an internet connection up to 500 Mb/s, and don’t need top-tier performance, you get a functional WiFi 6 router at a reasonable price.

It’s not a miracle. Coverage won’t be like with more expensive models, Xiaomi’s firmware occasionally has bugs, and support from China isn’t always fast. But if you’re looking for a basic router that simply works and don’t want to spend over a thousand crowns, the AX1500 is a reasonable choice.

At the recommended 890 CZK, it would already face stronger competition. But at the promotional price of 499 CZK, it’s one of the cheapest WiFi 6 routers on the market – and that’s where it makes the most sense.
