Premium mechanical keyboards usually cost 4–6 thousand CZK, but the Alienware Pro Wireless is now selling from 2,193 CZK – more than half less than at launch. For less than 2,200 CZK, you get hot-swappable switches, tri-mode connectivity (USB-C, 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth), and RGB backlighting, which reviewers describe as “best in category”. For people who want a compact wireless keyboard with premium build quality, it’s a great choice.

Hot-swappable switches and premium keycaps

The Alienware Pro features its own linear mechanical switches (40g actuation force) pre-lubed from the factory. These are hot-swappable, meaning you can swap them for other 3-pin or 5-pin switches without soldering – just pull them out with the included tool. So, if the factory settings don’t suit you, you can experiment with different switch types.

The keycaps are PBT double-shot, which means long lifespan (100 million keystrokes) and wear resistance. The legends are shine-through, and the RGB backlighting is uniform across all keys – including longer ones like Shift or Enter. This is not a given for keyboards in this price category. Unfortunately, the keyboard does not have Czech characters, which is quite common for these manufacturers.

Tri-mode connectivity and long battery life

The keyboard supports three connection methods: USB-C cable (2 meters paracord), 2.4GHz wireless with 1000 Hz polling rate, and Bluetooth 5.1 with the ability to pair up to three devices. Switching between them is simple – there’s a switch on the back for this purpose. This is great for people who alternately use the keyboard with a PC, laptop, or tablet.

Battery life is 72 hours with RGB at 50% brightness or 800 hours without RGB. On Bluetooth, it lasts up to 1800 hours. This is more than sufficient even with intensive use.

Nostalgic sound and gaming features

The Alienware Pro produces a characteristic typing sound that resembles old keyboards from the 90s. Reviewers describe it as a nostalgic experience – but be aware, the sound carries further than you might expect. If you share an apartment with family, this could be an issue. The keyboard has two layers of sound dampening, but it’s still not a completely silent affair.

For gamers, low latency (1000 Hz polling rate even wirelessly), fast switch response, and a compact layout without a numpad, which saves space for the mouse, are important.
