Anyone who yearned for one of the best TVs on the market a year ago had to dig deep into their pockets. The TCL 85X11K entered the Czech market in May last year with a recommended price of 149,990 CZK, placing it among the absolute top tier for the most demanding customers. Now, however, the situation has dramatically changed – the same model can be purchased from 69,986 CZK, which is less than half of the original price. At such a price, it’s an exceptionally attractive offer for anyone looking for a large model with premium picture quality.

QD-Mini LED with thousands of dimming zones

Technologically, the TCL 85X11K is almost at the pinnacle of what the brand currently offers. The combination of QD-Mini LED merges the advantages of QLED and OLED technologies – you get a color gamut and contrast comparable to OLED, but with significantly higher brightness and longer panel lifespan. Specifically, this 85″ model features 10,368 dimming zones, which allow for precise backlight control for every part of the image.

Also noteworthy is the peak brightness of 6,500 nits, which surpasses the vast majority of competitors. In combination with a native contrast ratio of 7000:1 (which, according to TCL, is five times more than conventional IPS panels), you get deep blacks and vibrant bright details. The panel covers 98% of the DCI-P3 color space and displays over a billion color shades.

Anti-glare and halo effect technologies

TCL has implemented its proprietary All-domain Halo Control technology in the X11K model, which addresses a typical problem of Mini LED TVs – unwanted glow around bright objects on a dark background. Also included is a CrystGlow HVA panel with an anti-reflective layer, ensuring the image remains sharp even in rooms with intense daylight.

Image processing is handled by the AiPQ Pro processor, which utilizes a set of algorithms to adjust contrast, colors, sharpness, and motion smoothness. The TV supports all modern HDR formats, including Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ Adaptive, and HLG.

Gaming features and sound by Bang & Olufsen

Gamers will appreciate the 144Hz native refresh rate with VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certification. The TV features HDMI 2.1 ports for full utilization with PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X consoles. Also included is a Game Bar for quick parameter adjustments during gameplay.

In terms of audio, the TCL 85X11K relies on a collaboration with the Danish brand Bang & Olufsen. The speakers, with a total output of 120 W, were tuned by the same sound engineers behind the products of this premium brand. It also features Dolby Atmos support for spatial sound and BeoSonic functions for customizing sound profiles.

Google TV and elegant design

System-wise, the TV runs on the Google TV platform, which offers access to streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, or OnePlay. Google Cast is also available for wireless content playback from a phone, and integration with AirPlay 2 for Apple device users.

The TV’s design is ultra-thin with a profile of just 27 mm at its widest point. The bezel-less construction maximizes screen area and, when wall-mounted, appears like a modern work of art. It includes an adjustable stand and an ambient mode that transforms the turned-off TV into a digital gallery.

Who is the TCL 85X11K suitable for?

At its current price of under 70 thousand CZK, it’s an exceptionally attractive offer for anyone looking for a large screen with premium picture quality. The TV will be particularly appreciated by film enthusiasts who want a home cinema with high brightness and deep contrast, as well as gamers thanks to the 144Hz panel and VRR support.

Conversely, if you don’t have a large enough living room for an 85″ diagonal or don’t need such high brightness, you can save money by choosing smaller models from the TCL range. It’s also important to consider that this is still a premium product – even with a significant discount, it’s not a cheap affair, and for similar money, you could easily get several solid mid-range TVs.
