Biometrics are becoming increasingly popular and widespread in smart locks. The TCL D2 Pro Palm Vein Smart Lock scans the vein pattern from your palm instead of the usual fingerprints or face; according to the manufacturer, the AI system in the lock can react to your palm in one second. The device’s algorithms also learn and continuously adapt to changes over time, so reliability should remain high even after years of use.

A positive point for users who value privacy is definitely the fact that all palm templates are stored locally inside the lock, not in the cloud. The device also houses a 10,000mAh battery, which is said to last up to 300 days of operation, or roughly 10 months.

The lock charges via USB-C. Wireless charging would probably fit the overall futuristic concept of the lock, but unfortunately, it is missing.

TCL D2 Pro also offers other unlocking methods

With the TCL D2 Pro lock, you don’t necessarily have to rely only on veins, although it is its primary feature. It also supports remote unlocking via the TCL Home app or voice commands via various assistants like Asistent Google. It is also compatible with NFC chips.

For touch unlocking, it offers a four to eight-digit PIN or a mechanical key, just in case. The model is made of a metal body and has a built-in alarm in case of attempted forced entry.

It is currently available on TCL’s official website for 160.65 dollars with a current 15% discount. The price is approximately 3 370 Kč.
