TP-Link has started selling the Tapo H110 smart hub in the Czech Republic, which, thanks to its infrared transmitter, can control even originally dumb home appliances. For only 649 CZK, you get a replacement for all remote controls in your home, plus a smart home center with Matter support.

One hub replaces dozens of remotes

Tapo H110 uses infrared control, which is not yet as widespread in Czech households as it is, for example, in Asia. Yet, it is a very practical technology – the hub can replace remote controls for TVs, air conditioners, set-top boxes, fans, or lights. TP-Link has integrated a database with over 8,000 brands and support for 18 different types of appliances into the device, so it can handle older models too.

Pairing is surprisingly simple – in the Tapo app, select the device type, point the original remote at the hub, and press any button. The app performs a few quick tests, and the appliance is immediately ready for control. The database of supported devices is updated every three months, so the latest models are gradually added.

Voice control and smart scenarios

The hub supports all major voice assistants – Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Siri via Apple Home. The GPS location detection feature is interesting. The hub can automatically turn on air conditioning or lights when you approach home. Similarly, you can set time schedules for when individual appliances should turn on or off. The Tapo app allows control from anywhere, so you can turn off forgotten air conditioning even from work.

Matter hub with Tapo sensor support

Tapo H110 is not just an infrared controller, but also a full-fledged Matter hub. This means it can connect common IR appliances with the smart home ecosystem, including Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and SmartThings.

Integration with Tapo motion, temperature, and humidity sensors is very practical. You can create automations like “when the temperature exceeds 28 °C, turn on the air conditioning” or “turn on the lights when motion is detected at night”. The hub also has a built-in siren with a volume of 93 dB for security purposes.

Works even without internet

An important feature is the ability to control in offline mode. If the hub and your phone are on the same local network, you can control devices even during an internet outage. This will be especially appreciated by those who are concerned about reliance on cloud services.

Setting up the hub is very simple thanks to Plug & Play and TP-Link Simple Setup. The device automatically appears in the Tapo app after being turned on; there’s no need to manually select a Wi-Fi network or enter passwords.

Availability and price

TP-Link Tapo H110 is available in the Czech Republic for a recommended price of 649 CZK. Given that competing IR hubs often cost twice as much and lack Matter support, this is a very attractive offer.

Would you get an infrared hub to control all your home appliances?
