Owners of Samsung Galaxy S25 phones can look forward to features that the South Korean giant introduced with this year’s S26 series. A Samsung representative directly confirmed this on a Korean community forum in response to user inquiries.

Virtual Aperture finally for telephoto lens too

The Virtual Aperture feature allows software adjustment of background blur (bokeh effect), which cannot be mechanically resolved in smartphones with a fixed aperture like in DSLRs. Galaxy S25 supports this feature, but only for the main sensor. With the S26 series, Samsung extended support to telephoto lenses.

When a user on the community forum asked if the Galaxy S25 Ultra could get Virtual Aperture for the telephoto lens (3× and 5× zoom) via the ExpertRaw app, a moderator and Samsung representative replied that the company plans to port this feature to the entire Galaxy S25 series. This is welcome news – the bokeh effect when zoomed in significantly improves portrait photos, and Samsung thus shows that six years of software support is not just about security patches.

AI document scanning is coming to S25

The second feature expected to arrive on older flagship models is AI document scanning. Essentially every Android phone can scan documents – either natively or via Google Drive. However, with the S26 series, Samsung added a smarter version that, in addition to basic multi-page scanning, also offers text translation, note insertion, and drawing directly into the scanned document.

According to the statement on the forum, Samsung also plans to make this feature available for the Galaxy S25. However, a specific date has not yet been announced – we only know that the company is working on it.

Samsung has recently been more accommodating with updates for older models than was previously customary. This is a logical step – if the company promises six years of support, customers expect more than just bug fixes. Porting features from a newer generation is precisely the type of update that makes sense and maintains the loyalty of users who bought a phone for tens of thousands of crowns last year.

Will you appreciate any of the new features?
